Metformin and Weight loss
I had no intention of posting today but after such a great visit to my GP, I thought why not. I have always been pretty clean with my eating. I tend to stick to low carb, high protein and good fats….92% of the time. That and the fact I cut back significantly on alcohol and I maintain a steady enough

One year since surgery
I had my psa test today one year post surgery and it is undetectable. I asked my urologist about getting on metformin and a statin because I have high triglycerides and an a1c of 5.8. He said they have anticancer properties and recommended them.

Treatment update
I’ve been posting here for about six months, but I am always uncomfortable about posting personal updates. I wonder whether I am bragging, whining, boring people or some combination of the above. Regardless, I enjoy reading the experiences of others, both positive and negative. I personally think

Do other medications interact with b12 injections
My mum's b12 level were at 274 last year, she went on to have a TIA. I think it ws caused by years of taking metformin. Her GP refused to give her trial of b12 injections but gave her a private prescription of 5 viles of b12. My question is, is it safe for her to take b12 with the medication she is

Does PCOS get worse with age? Can it lead to endometriosis if not treated?
Apologies for the very long post. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 17. My periods started when I just turned 12 and were always fairly regular (25-31 days) but quite heavy and painful, and although I was a healthy weight as a child and teenager, I did suffer with bad skin/acne which made the doctors suspect

Feeling fed up
Hi all, my first post on here. I’ve just left my doctors and my diabetic nurse has told me my latest HbA1c result is 66. It was 58 six months ago. She has said it is borderline but not classed as high and they won’t alter my medication at this time but will check again in six months time. I, however,

How bad is it for a type 2 diabetic to miss Metformin for 3 weeks?
I'm new here. I'm asking this question because my boyfriend has been unable to get his medication (due to an insurance problem) and his family doesn't seem too concerned. I want to help, since I think it may be unhealthy to miss medication to treat diabetes, but I don't know much about it. What can

Hi to all my diabetes 2 friends. I would welcome your comments and experiences that i got taken off and put on this diabetic drug. I have used Metformin for 6 years. It never brought my blood sugars down to the recommended level and 8-10 was average, any lower and I felt very ill. Anyway, the side effects

PCOS, Metformin use and pregnancy
Hiya, I was wondering if anyone takes Metformin for PCOS? My question is when in pregnancy should you stop taking it, or just carry on? I'm sure our clinic recommend taking it until 15w, but I can't remember. Thank you xx

Sirolimus used for LAM, but not only
Well Metformin Rapamycin, Resveratrol are the new better-aging pharma trends..So they are selling those to people who want to rejuvenate. I don’t know honestly..In Swiss clinics they go like hot cakes..as well as stem cells. I am old-fashioned maybe but meds are meds, and they are for treatment ..

Berberine for leaky gut and Parkinson's ?
Several months ago I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and have been looking for alternative treatments to anti arrhythmic drugs and surgical ablation usually prescribed for the condition. Berberine came up as a good alternative in some Chinese study https://www.hindawi.com/journals/bmri/2017/3146791

Yesterday’s Follow Up Appt...
...Finally! After 13 weeks. My consultant told me that my ovaries were VERY polycystic not just a little like I was told the day after surgery, so straight off I was annoyed. I had gone in to the appointment with the thought in mind that I was gonna ask him to prescribe me Metformin alongside Clomid

Metformin
Hi, I’m due to start IVF next month. My clinic has put me on a course of Metformin 1500 a day. I don’t have PCOS but I’m on the cusp for being a candidate for getting OHSS. Since I’ve upped my dose to 1500 I’m now hungry all the time, putting on weight around my stomach and having headaches. Has anyone
