You should have annual review whilst you are on metformin. Why do you ask?

Why do you not wish a blood test ?

I can understand your gp as without the test how can he know the level.of met for min you require?

I have a phobia of needles ( even was a blood donor pre bi for 20+years...Didn't help though) but I understand that to be treat accurately my gp needs a curate information. For them to treat you on guess work surely is not ethical.

Pre bi I was very against medication. That was until I really needed it's help. Yes medication can be misused and can become a crutch. But it can if managed accurately be invaluable.

Basically if you want full treatment you must help by supplying them with all the information they need.

You may have good reasons for refusing the tests but your gp also has good reasons not to treat you.

Talk to your gp and if you have fears let them know.

Pax
