I'm new to all this - Holidays doing PD
My husband has just started
peritoneal
dialysis
. We hope to have a holiday in France next year but I feel concerned in case he gets an infection and needs to go to hospital. Can anyone recommend a good travel insurance company?

Blood pressure jumps up
For years my blood pressure was low, like 110/50, but these few months all of sudden unplainarily my B P jumped up to around 170/70 , I used maximum amount of B P medicines and it barely works, Do any one has similiar things happened to you? i'm 70, been on dialysis 11 years now.

Dialysis & MS-contin (Morphine)
I started dialysis 4 weeks ago and I’m up to 4 hour treatments. At 3 hours the ms-contin was ok, at 4 hours it bleeds off all ms-contin and I end up in excruciating pain for about 36 hours before I get the chronic pain under control. Has anyone gone through this or have any recommendations on other drugs

Learn as much as possible...even if it happens to contradict what Dialysis staff tells you!
Parents, learn as much as possible about ESRD. Then learn about the real Science of the body, foods, and a little chemistry. So when your child gets older, you can teach them everything! ...though they are never so young to start learning about it, especially if they have to live with it! But remember

Feeling Lost & Empty & Numb as a Female Caregiver; Does anyone else feel this way?
Since he has been on Home
Peritoneal
Dialysis
and instead of using 2 bags of fluids at night, they had to increase it to 3 bags (to hopefully bring down his weight). And, that has not helped at all.

Grieving
Hi I just had surgery to put in a fistula last Friday. I'm healing a little bit sore. I know that it is ok to go through the grieving process but I have been fighting with my emotions stuffing the feelings. I'm afraid of what I will go through Has anyone else been in this situation where you fight

Fear of Staple Removal Pain
The vascular doctor tried to make a AV fistyla in my arm during the second part surgery but ended up having to do an AV graph. I now have staples going from elbow to arm pit which will be taken out on Wednesday. I am anxious because nurses at dialysis center said I would not be given numbing meds before

My Husband was admitted to hospital and currently on ICU.
My husband has been in ICU for the last 9 days. We have been told he is critical. His kidneys have failed and he is on dialysis. He is on a ventilator and on 100% oxygen. We feel so deflated after a phone call from the doctors. We understand they do not want to give us false hope but wanted to very

Hello out there my name is Quita 55and I have a question in 12 days I will be having surgery for artriovenous fistula. I hear one of the side effects of dialysis is itching. If that happens is there something I can do? Open for ideas. Thanks

Blood Test Essential with Omeprazole
Hi I had an endoscopy/colonoscopy last June, the results of which indicated I had mild gastritis. My own GP put me on omeprazole morning and evening it was never monitored until I had bad swelling in one leg and ankle in January 2020. Consequently diagnosed with heart failure, sent to a clinic to have

High ALKP (Alkaline Phosphatase) - is it a result of Renal Failure?
Is high Alkaline Phosphatase )ALKP) cause by renal failure, or possibly if one has a high ALKP - this may be the reason for the renal failure? What is the danger of high ALKP and how can it be prevented with severe renal failure (not on dialysis yet). Thanks!

Any advice? Starting PD at home in 2 weeks...
I am starting home PD on Nov 9th. Training on the twin bag method for now (APD) because the drain pain from my flushing has been bad. I hope to use the home choice pro cycler from baxter at some point, maybe once my body gets used to the drain pain, but there’s a chance I will stay on APD and may never
