Is high Alkaline Phosphatase )ALKP) cause by renal failure, or possibly if one has a high ALKP - this may be the reason for the renal failure?

What is the danger of high ALKP and how can it be prevented with severe renal failure (not on dialysis yet).

Thanks!

High ALP numbers can indicate a liver with fatty deposits. It depends on how high over the reference range and for how long. Whether or not there has been excessive alcohol consumption and/or poor eating habits. There are specific blood tests a GI or your nephrologist can order to get a more definitive answer. How high over the reference range are your numbers?

I hope you get answers soon.
