Find live drug-addict donor for preemptive kidney transplant?
News has it that recipients are treated for hepatitis C with 95% curative antiviral. This new approach, FDA-approved(?), expands the pool of both cadaver and living kidney donors, hopefully shorten wait time. Yes?

Cancer worries post and pre transplant
A quick recap on my situation. I had liver transplants back in 1995 and have been on immunosuppressants ever since (mychophenolate). I’ve been back on the transplant list now for 15 months due to having cirrhosis. About 2 weeks ago I went for mammogram and yesterday I received a letter saying I needed

A preemptive kidney transplant?
Hey everyone I have IGAN. Approximately 3 months ago I started the process of getting on the kidney transplant list. At the time I was referred for transplant by my nephrologist because my GFR was 16 and we both thought dialysis was looming. I started the process and went through all the testing required

I'm new, hello
Hi, I'm Oldred, 'cos I am an old Man Utd fan. I had a liver transplant in December 2018 and slowly recovering. Everything is going well, though I am suffering quite a lot of discomfort. I am told this is normal but I had hoped to have been better than this nearly 6 months down the line. What experiences

Prisoner needing liver transplant wasn't taken for hospital appointment, then deteriorated and died
I mentioned just the other day that my last position of employment before taking retirement was that at Cardiff Prison. Most prisons around the country are visited by local hospital's Liver specialist nurses. Who deal with liver related medical conditions, and are often involved with liver-related alcohol

Liver transplant Assessment – Alcohol-related Liver Disease.
I’ve been thinking about writing about this for some time, so here goes. As anyone who has been there before will tell you, the liver transplant assessment can be not only a life changing/saving opportunity, but also very anxious time for not only the hopeful recipient but also for the carer too. This

Recently went to outpatient center for depression and anxiety due to chronic pain. Now have additional pain and depression is severe again🙁
I’m not sure how to even explain the depth of my depression. My path down this dark whole began about July 2015 when my Dad had quadruple bypass. Then soon after I got my first diagnosis of HPV. By December I started having severe bleeding in my urine and had emergency surgery. Was diagnosed with rare

Stem Cell research or is it now Frankenstein reborn
Time to move on from my last post. Those who have been interested in my previous post into Stem Cell research will be astounded by this latest revelation. In my last post on this subject I mentioned how it was hoped that liver transplants may one day become a thing of the past, and that with future stem
