Transplant Recovery Equated to One Year on Chemotherapy?
One of our contributors on HealthUnlocked was told, in her evaluation for transplant by the Hospital Transplant Team, that the first year of recovering from a kidney transplant was similar to that of being on chemotherapy for a year. I have NEVER been told that -- not by my Transplant Team, PD Dialysis

World Transplant Games 2019
I think a lot of people where quite surprised by the success of the World Transplant Games this year. It’s a shame there wasn’t more media coverage for this most wonderful event. There were some really ore inspiring stories, and I believe some people were drawn to tears by the sharing of these. I was

Side ache and naseau
I had my kidney transplant 18 months ago. It is on my left side. I have always experienced uncomfortable pressure on the transplant site. I understand this. However, I also experience considerable pain on both sides of my abdomen usually waking me up at night or early morning. Ironically, the ache is

Over sensitive ??
Going on a 3 day cruise in October and just been asked on Facebook if I would like one of these!! Is it silly to get upset - since my husband's illness (not alcohol related) and subsequent liver transplant I'm not sure if I'm being over sensitive or just stupid. My husband intends to take his transplant

Stem cell transplant for Myelofibrosis
After 12 years with PV and then 2 years with MF I explained in a letter to my consultant that were the decision to have a transplant entirely mine it is what I would wish for. I'd been on Jakavi for a year and it had ceased to help. I then went onto the Pacritinib trial which curtailed night sweats

Keep Active to Stay Healthy
After my kidney transplant in 2012, I experienced two below-knee amputations in the next two years. I learnt to walk using two prosthetic legs, aided by two walking sticks. I am encouraged to keep active to stay healthy, so I go on twice weekly walks, one with my walking coach, and twice weekly gym sessions

Vaccines
I’m traveling to Thailand in September and I need to two vaccines: MMR and Varicella. I received my kidney transplant in 4/2007. What should I do ? I remembered being vaccinated back in the early 70s but I can’t find my records. I took the blood test and my results was negative.

Done with Lutetium
I completed five of the six infusions in the VISION clinical trial before I was excluded due to low hemoglobin. The initial and main cause of the low hemoglobin was my bone marrow transplant in late 2017, but the level continued dropping. Lutetium reduced my PSA by about 300 per infusion, in a linear
