Sharing experiences
Hello thought I would just share my experience as it may be reassuring for some. I was diagnosed with a vestibular schwannoma (AN) by my local hospital then referred to Addenbrooke’s in November 2018. As the tumour was quite big I was offered the option of either surgery or fractionated radiotherapy.

Acoustic Neuroma Surgery and facial paralysis
Hi everyone, I had my surgery on 25Aug, all successful for removal of large AN tumour. Since coming home facial paralysis has started and now affects my eye and mouth. I wondered if anyone else had this after 2weeks post op and what helped them? I had heard you can tape the eye shut which I did yesterday

AN misdiagnosed?
Hi there, I was diagnosed back in March 2021 with an AN on my left side by an ENT at my local hospital following an MRI. I have some symptoms that align with an AN (hearing loss and tinnitus, issues with balance) but I also experience headaches most days. I was referred to a neurology team at a bigger

Tales from the IC : More Virtual Running Fun (#8)
I’m now thinking it could be rather a metatarsal plate fracture, rather than a metatarsal fracture or Morton’s
Neuroma
. Same treatment though, so no running!

Finally Have Answer on Foot - Strange Outcome
On Monday, I saw my podiatrist (I couldn't get in sooner. ) He looked at the x-ray from the 10th and was ready to give me a shot for lupus
neuroma
. Then decided to do another x-ray to be on the safe side. Now the x-ray clearly shows a fracture. He put both x-rays on the screen.

Awaiting AN treatment
I had noticed progressive hearing loss and tinnitus in right ear and had put it down to noise exposure. I was fitted with a hearing aid in July 2020 and was referred for MRI as a precautionary measure. I had confirmation of 1.5 cm AN in November (COVID delays). It was suggested to wait 12 month for

My first Hill Sprints (yippee!) and first metatarsalgia (boohoo)
From what I read Morton’s
Neuroma
is an annoying condition as it is permanent (although the pain might go away).

Not considered urgent
I was informed by my doctor that the MRI I had at the local hospital had revealed that I have an acoustic
neuroma
which is pressing on my brainstem. The doctor said that the nearest specialist would be in touch with me as the MRI dept . would have sent my scan straight to the specialist.

Tales from the IC (#13): Running vs Rowing, muscley toes, and recovery plans

Acoustic neuroma survey
I am keen to try to find out some answers to a potential AN causation as there is very little known on causations. Please would you kindly take 2 minutes of your time to complete. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/J886DZC

Reply to ‘impact of your acoustic neuroma’
I had an acoustic
neuroma
, 3.5cm diameter, removed 16 years ago. The most significant impact is that I had to sacrifice my left ear drum; being totally deaf on that side impacts negatively on my ability to socialise in crowded places.
