Merry Christmas everyone! I see from the posts and Strava that a lot of us are getting out there, donning the one or other Christmas garb or hat 🎅, and keeping on keeping on through the festive season.

I’ve managed to get over my flu (although my fitness did take a hit), but my metatarsals are still giving me grief!

So I’ve moved over to running daily on Zwift, or rather indoor-rowing a running avatar on Zwift. A bit of a more complex tech set-up (see healthunlocked.com/strength... ), but it was worth it and I’ve finished my Zwift 101 training program! (My row-run reports are on our sister forum HU Strength and Flex, as I’ve felt it’s actually strength-related cross-training)

This morning I added another first, and rowed 6k to Spotify music, simultaneously taking part in a joint Zwift festive run.

I was expecting that we’d be all in Christmas gear, but as you can tell from the pics, that was not the case. Maybe tomorrow… 🤔. But I did dare join a Discord channel for this run and saw a pink bunny costumed guy running in his shed in Australia, chatting to all other runners joining in a video or audio chat. Technology today! It still amazes me!

And it was great having the feeling of row-running with others!

And my metatarsals?

I’m massaging them! Doing some strengthening toe work. But they still niggle annoyingly! I might just have to be even more patient with them.

But at least I have a global community of thousands of running avatars on Zwift to keep me company!

Happy running everyone!

Merry Christmas! I agree, some Christmassy gear for our Zwift avatars would be nice! Glad you are enjoying the virtual events, it's a fun online space isn't it.

Definitely is! Do you run with your treadmill on there as well? I’m on there as CBDB, as well. 😀 Still exploring all functions!

Merry Christmas! Thank you!

Sorry to hear you're still on the IC. I do am a bit jealous of your rowing though. I like to think I'd love rowing myself. But I have bought so many equipment that I don't use already. I don't dare buying rowing equipment to end up not using it either. My indoor bike, treadmill, stepping machine and twisting machine are gathering a lot of dust! And that does not take into account my fitness trampoline which I sold nor my fitness ball which is lying deflated somewhere. If I knew all I know now, I might have better not have bought the treadmill, trampoline, stepping machine and twisting machine and better had bought a rowing machine. But alass, one can not turn back time...

Good luck and sounds like fun to row and run at the same time, haha.

🤣🤣 I think once we’ve been bitten by the running bug, there is always the next equipment that becomes desirable 🤣🤣.

1 year into my running I’ve found myself yearning for the first time in my life for a treadmill. (Never bought one, though 🙁).

Only now 2 years in, do I think I indoor cycle might be nice. 🛒🛍

I do have a few smaller pieces like dumbbells and gym balls, but I have only the rower as a large piece of gym equipment.

But I share your feeling of that little jealousy! 🤣🤣

Having said that, I have to admit there are on and off times for my rower. These are connected to my on and off times for running. So nothing has come close to running for me, so adding tech stuff like running in Zwift’s Watopia makes it much more enjoyable!

And it sounds like there might be phases where you use your pieces again. (Treadmill … I am immediately thinking of the potential of hooking that up to Watopia! 🤣🤣)

Keep on keeping on, no matter if outside running or indoor equipping. And the time might still come for each of those pieces of equipment!
