As I posted picture and what was happening to my foot a short while ago, I finally have an answer. I had an x-ray on Nov. 10 in urgent care that seemed fine. The doctor there could see the inflammation and prescribed methylprednisolone for 6 days. It did not help. I saw my GP on the 16th. He was puzzled by the swelling, pain and red rash like area, but had no answers. On Monday, I saw my podiatrist (I couldn't get in sooner. ) He looked at the x-ray from the 10th and was ready to give me a shot for lupus neuroma. Then decided to do another x-ray to be on the safe side. Now the x-ray clearly shows a fracture. He put both x-rays on the screen. There was no indication of anything to even hint at the fracture on the first one. He had no answers to why it did not show up previously. Both x-rays were done at the same place. The other mystery is that I did not fall, trip, etc. So now I am in a walking boot. All I want for Christmas is to get the walking boot off and my foot to be healed.
Healing hugs.

Hi pumpkin2009, so glad you finally got an answer to your foot and hopefully the boot will be off In time to dance at Christmas. Is the fracture in one of the small bones? I ask because this happened to me many years ago and apparently it is quite common? I canβt remember what the doctor called it but remember him telling me that it happens a lot in soldiers or runners because of all the βpoundingβ their feet take, Iβm neither and doctors response was well you must be on your feet all the time!
Hi Chris, I think what you are referring is a stress fracture , but this is a regular fracture. I know runners are very prone to stress fractures. Like you, I am not a runner or on my feet all the time. It is probably because of my poor bone density. Love how doctors come up with why it happened when they have no clue. Thank you so much for responding.
I had to wear a boot when I broke my ankle. I found that a ski sock provided padding in the right places so it didnβt rub as bad. A boot is a pain, but SO much better than the plaster cast I had as a kid.
Thank you so much for that advice. The part of my foot on the bottom under the toes feels so strange and irritated especially. Then i have a hammer toe, neuroma and bunion that aren't happy, so any help is much appreciated.
Olderkitten, I like your name. Thank you for your encouragement. In 2020, I broke my neck and wrist. I keep reminding myself that this is nothing compared to that. The neck was months of scariness. I still have to wear support on the wrist. I just have to be patient. Thank you again.
