Any advice? do I take prednisone after surgery since I will be fasting overnight? How long do I have to wait until I can bend over? Does it take longer to heal with prednisone? I'm on 3 mg.

Rheumatologist response
Thank you to all who are responding and helping me make decisions. Some day it will be me helping others, I promise. Recap: I have been dealing with pmr for 4 years. For the last year I have been on 4.5 mg and I have felt only moderate pain, some days none. 6 weeks or so ago, however, the pain increased

Thanks so much for all the replies to my question. I was given prednisone January 12 when the orthopedic doctor thought I was just having lower back pain from the slipped vertebrae I have. (6 day dose, starting with 30 mg, reducing by 5 a day) He wanted me to have another MRI. I began to have terrible

Eyesight improvement on Prednisolone
Hi there, my first post. So I thought my eyesight was going a little blurry and went for a test last week. It turns out that my mid range sight is actuality a lot better than it was 2 yrs ago. Down to +0.5 from +1.5. The optician said it was due to the steroids and can sometimes happen. I have to go

Metabolic changes from prednisone
I have been on prednisone since July of 2021. Several failed attempts to taper but am presently at 3 mgs after changing diet dramatically. Had blood tests a month ago and cholesterol is one third higher than normal range. GP tells me that prednisone can cause metabolic changes by increasing blood

Herpes (or acyclovir usage) affecting implantation after ivf embryo transfer?
I have had herpes for about 10 years. I have noticed more outbreaks during stims. I've already had 2 failed transfers and am worried both that having herpes and /or taking acyclovir will affect implantation for my last transfer. I've read some conflicting studies on acyclovir and it's effect on implantation

Stopped pred recently and not so bushy tailed.
Hi, I am fortunate to have stopped taking Prednisolone nearly 3 weeks ago. I feel a bit more tired this week and generally a bit stiff in my muscles - however weekly yoga seems to help with the muscles. Also I have continued to have sore muscles in my chest and slight pins and needles feeling in

prednisone taper
I finally got an appointment today with the rheumatologist-May 28th. In the meantime, I would like to get off the prednisone, but not sure how to do it. My primary Dr told me to take 10 mg, but I was having some pain, mostly shoulder and upper arms, so I increased it to 12.5 for the past week. I’m gaining

A Miracle
Hi Everyone, It's been a while and I pray that everyone is one step closer to healing. I'm back to share good news and hopefully offer a glimpse of hope to others. My husband has recovered from PMR! This community was so helpful, encouraging and supportive that I had to come back and share. Moreover

GCA Duration Expectations
Hi All, I was diagnosed with GCA last October. Presently down to 12.5 mg. prednisone and Actemra and feeling quite well. Is it reasonable to hope that one could recover without ever flaring again? Is it unreasonable to hope to go back to life as I once knew it? Or will I always have to be extra careful

Have I got RA ?
Hi I have been taking Prednisolone for PMR for 18 months and now on 5mg each morning under the care of a Rhuematologist . I have had Osteoarthritis for a good few years mainly in my finger joints . My Dr is now questioning if I have RA because my middle finger on the right hand is markedly more swollen

Looks like here we go again...to treatment.
I have not been on this site a lot lately (apologies) but have found it very useful, knowledgeable and kind. In 2020, after 10 years, my CLL became active, I also was diagnosed with Hemolytic Anemia, spent 9 days in the hospital, after being admitted in serious condition. I was treated with a combination

Is This Normal??
Is it normal after nearly 5 years on ADT + Zytig, Prednisone, and Xgeva, to have constant "Flu-Like" symptoms, (sans a fever)? Some days, everything hurts, legs hurt at night , feel like my blood is boiling while I try to sleep. Are these "side effects" or just part of the advanced cancer? Excruciating

Curious about thin-skinned ears---Prednisone?
Does anyone else have issues with the edges of their ears getting raw? My pillowcases are quite smooth, and periodically, I have a problem with the edges of my ear bleeding and must keep it covered while I sleep until it heals. I deal with it, heal it, and I'm fine. Then in a few months...I hop on
