Adrenal glands
I'm wondering if any fellow p.m.r sufferer's out there have heard of 'waking up the adrenals'I'm keen to find out if it's true and what the advantages this process could have on our health. I'm currently tapering my prednisone dose slowly after 13 months on this medication. Appreciate any advice. Thanks

Missed dose and Adrenal Failure
I hope that someone has experience of this and can help. I take 5mg of Prednisolone daily and have done for over ten years. I have never missed a dose until now but due to a supply problem at the online pharmacy I use and problems with the NHS computer system I am in real danger of running out of tablets

A tale of PMR, pred and DMARDs (azathioprine, methotrexate and leflunomide)
Lorna Neill is a leading member of the Scottish charity, taking her turn on their Helpline, and heavily involved in research in PMR and GCA alongside Prof Sarah Mackie in Leeds. This is her story of using DMARDs alongside pred for Long PMR which I am posting for her: "I have a longstanding (13 years

non live shingles vaccine
I will be having my shingles vaccine soon (70 in May) - should I ask for non live vaccine - Shingrax? I take 6 mg of prednisolone a day - GP says live vaccine ok if on less than 7.5 mg but check with nurse - should I go private if GP won’t let offer non live vaccine?

Chicken Pox Exposure
I’m on 3.1 mg of Prednisolone for PMR. My son has just asked us to babysit our 18 month old granddaughter, who was vaccinated against Chicken Pox ( live vaccine) 4 days ago I’m not sure if I should babysit or not. Is there any risk involved in being close to a newly vaccinated baby and if so how

update on Prednisone taper below 5 mg and question about timing of daily dose
I have just completed a taper from 5 mg to 4.5 mg, which has taken 5 weeks. I am to start my taper from 4.5 mg to 4.0 mg tomorrow, but I might wait a week. Everything has gone well, although I do find I am quite tired, and was especially tired yesterday, which is most likely due to my adrenal glands

Can’t walk. X-ray OK.
Good morning to my lifelines. To add to my saga of a 7 year struggle dealing with PMR 4 weeks ago I got out of bed and couldn’t bear weight on my left leg. The pain and weakness was mostly coming from the outside of my left hip where the bursa is, but there is no strength in my hip girdle. Luckily, I

I am approaching my first anniversary with PMR and have read lots of interesting and helpful information on this Forum in the past twelve months. Long term effects of Pred on immune system
I have previously been a member of this community under another user name, but can no longer get into the account I have held since 2009! In summary, I was diagnosed with GCA after ultrasound in December 2019. The hospital were shockingly bad and I was still heavily symptomatic when I had a follow up

Worsening burning, restless, pins and needles in both feet and calves - is this related to the prednisolone, PMR, or something related?
I cannot fathom why this is happening and why it is becoming worse. I just cannot sleep for this. I take Magnesium Glycenate each day, and have not been troubled by restess legs for several years. I had been on 8mg preds since August 2021, Since this past autumn what with Covid, bronchial infection

Prednisolone Q
wheels are in motion for getting my NK cells tested and just wondered how much approximately we would be looking at paying for prednisolone if I needed it? How much do you get? I’m under the impression the medication is not provided on the NHS, is this right? Xx

Adrenals - just wondering
Hello to all. Taking 3.5mgs prednisolone (down from 15, 6 years ago) now noticing that I can take them later and later each morning thereby lengthening time between doses with no ill effects. Body does not like 3mgs but could above indicate that PMR is calming down and it is the adrenals that still need

Recently diagnosed with GCA
I was diagnosed with GCA 5 weeks ago. Never heard of it, so it was such a shock. I'm 64 fit and healthy, eat a good diet etc but then started with the headaches which got progressively worse from the end of December. I started on 60mg Prednisolone, dropped to 45mg 10 days later (told by my Consultant

Flare! What was the last dose that I felt good at?
Good evening/ good morning all! After I was diagnosed with PMR on 6/16/22, I was given generous and kind advice from the knowledge and experiences of PMRpro, Dorset Lady as well as many others. Well, I’ve hit a bump in the road and before I talk to the rheumatologist I want to gather intelligence from

Nubeqa vs Abiraterone for post Docetaxel maintenance?
Thanks to the many on this board that offered suggestions I will soon complete a slightly modified triple therapy of ADT+ABI+Docetaxel. My challenges with side effects included eliminating Tylenol and reducing ABI for one cycle; and then, switching from 1000mg ABI on empty stomach to 250mg ABI+ 10mg

Persistent headache
Hi, I was diagnosed with Temporal Arteritis in 2019 and have been on a reducing dose of Prednisolone since then. I've been on 2mg per day for the past 6 months. Two weeks ago I developed a left-sided persistent headache which seemed to me to be the same as the one that originally led to my diagnosis
