Flare Strategy?
After having a flare 4 months ago and going from 4.5 mg to 10 for a week, then dropping back to 5.5 for 5 weeks, I have now tapered down to 5mg, where I have been for 10 weeks. My doctor seems fine with my staying at 5 for awhile longer. Three days ago and coinciding with much colder weather, I experienced

why am I so tired
I was diagnosed with GCA in November. I have been reducing Prednisone every 2 weeks. I started on 40mg and I am now on 12.5mg. I have steroid induced diabetis and my readings have been very erratic. They seem to be settling down a bit. I am taking 160mg and 80mg of Gliclazide, I have also been prescribed

Actemra and Extremely Fast Taper off of Prednisone
I didn't expect the following during my last appointment with my Rheumatologist: I told her that some symptoms were resurfacing after having reduced from 20mg for 2 weeks to 17.5mg, for 2 weeks (due to go down to 15mg. 2 days after appt), slight pressure in left temple and newly developed persistent

Prednisolone Brand Differences
My first post on my PMR journey. This forum has an unbelievable depth of knowledge which has helped me understand the condition and the road forward so thank you everyone for sharing your advice. Just 3 weeks in on 15mg and going OK. But suddenly a backward step in discomfort which coincided with a change

Baseline PSMA-Pet scan?
My MO has given me instructions to end treatment 7/31. I've been on Lupron & Zytiga/5mg prednisone since 8/1/2022. I started out with Gleason (3+4) 7. Last May I had pelvic radiation to hit lymph nodes as per a 2021 PSMA-Pet scan. Now it's time to stop all treatment at the 2 year mark. My MO just kind

flare concern
I am continuing to deal with my latest flare. You good folks gave me some advice a week or two ago. When trying to reduce from 2.5 mg of prednisone to 2 it created more stiffness. However for the month of January at 2.5 mg I was probably all along more sore than I should have been. Two weeks ago I

Can’t reduce below 5mg
hello I’ve just joined this group in the hope that I can get some advice or at least some understanding of my situation! I was diagnosed with PMR nearly 2 years ago when I was 58. I’ve been on Prednisolone ever since, starting on 20mg which resulted in the usual miraculous sense of relief, and have managed

Advice on back pain & pred dosing...
Morning, i joined this group a few months ago and find it so useful even though I don't have pmr. I do have tertiary adrenal insufficiency, ulcerative colitis, osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia and possibly pots. In the last 2 years after having covid twice I developed cushing symptom due to over replacement

PMR and Pfizer Covid Vaccine
Within 5 days of my husband and I receiving the first Pfizer Covid jab, he started getting pains in his legs and shoulders. He took paracetamol & used Bio Freeze, similar to deep heat. He got progressively worse, a GP diagnosed Frozen Shoulder over the phone, prescribed Co-Codamol & Naproxen. Within

Taper question
Hi All, I’ve only joined you last week and I have found the help invaluable. I have a question around tapering. I was on a 2 week dose of 50mg prednisone, reducing to 40mg for 2 weeks. The 50mg was good and symptom free, I have been on 40mg for a week now and have just started to experience some

Steroid induced diabetes
I haven't seen too much about steroid induced diabetes. I was diagnosed with diabetes shortly after being put on Prednisone for PMR. It definitely changed my eating habits but I was able to control it with few carbs and more exercise. I was told that it might clear out as I taper off the steroids.

Symptoms (?) at lower levels
Diagnosed with PMR in Jan. '23 and put at 20mg prednisone. Have now tapered slowly down to 3mg without much problem. Every time I start a taper of .5mg I do have a slight increase of pain for two to three weeks but then it fades. Now, between 3.5 and 3mg I am also having increased weakness and general

upcoming cataract surgery
Any advice? do I take prednisone after surgery since I will be fasting overnight? How long do I have to wait until I can bend over? Does it take longer to heal with prednisone? I'm on 3 mg.
