I’m currently down to 4mg of prednisolone and have a constant sore throat and dry mouth during the night . Is this normal ? What can I do to relieve the soreness and will it eventually improve as I reduce my steroids?

Sore Throat
It sounds like you might be having a cold or similar coming along. I find sucking sore throat sweets, particularly Fisherman’s Friend, helps me.
Did you have it at higher doses?
occasionally but this is worse
Which begs the question - if it is bad now and didn't happen as much at higher doses, why do you think it is pred?
wasn’t sure if it was part of withdrawal symptoms . Seeing my consultant this week so will see what he suggests . I’m already on 30mg ppi so don’t want to increase but I suppose it could be due to acid ???
How long has this been going on? Do you wake up with it or does it keep you awake? If you are mouth breathing, you could be drying everything out and making it sore. Whilst sore throat and hoarseness could be GCA, it could be from other causes . Acid reflux can cause night time sore throat for one. Has it been going on long enough to rule out a viral infection? If it was the steroids I would expect it to have been worse on higher doses, not start at 4mg.
I have a very dry mouth and tongue when I lie down at night Salivix pastelles are the most effective remedy I have found. I clean my tongue with a curved metal gadget night and morning. The symptom can cause a stinging throat. I equate it with steroid use.
I get similar but only when the humidity is too high in my room, which is contrary to anything I ever had before! Dehumidifier cures it for me. Weird!
I just saw this. Regarding dry mouth I had terrible dry mouth until I started taping my mouth shut at night! Crazy sounding but worked like a charm. a little X of tape and no more dry mouth. One problem solved. Just an idea!
