Hi all. Just had a horrible weekend , fast irregular heart rate, lasted over 1 hour . Of course it had stopped by the time I was monitored, so they didn't really have any record . Spent 2 nights in EAU wired up , lots of ecgs bloods etc. They reassured me it wasn't a heart attack . The flutters continued

The plexopathy continues
After speaking to the consultant again he is saying to maintain long term on a low dose of Prednisolone. I'm back I agony so I have to do something. The Gabapentin isn't helping in the slightest so I'm coming off it slowly. I asked if there was an alternative to the Prednisolone and he mentioned methotrexate

Pneumonia vaccination
Hi all. I have recently returned to Spain for the foreseeable future and managed to get my covid vaccination shortly after my arrival a few weeks ago. I had my flu vaccination in the UK just before we came out. I have to say that I have responded well to both vaccinations with no adverse side effects

t3 only treatment need advice
When i got hypo i figured out fast that t4 only only worsend everything. My doc added 10 t3 it was better but not optimal. She put me on 4 Grain NDT and i did well for 2 years. Then got one symptom and we played with NDT dosages lower, higher, brands and a combo with NDT plus 10 T3... I transitioned

Gastric side effect of PMR medications
Hello, I am relatively newly diagnosed with PMR, in July 2023, and just starting my tapering journey. I started on 20mg Prednisolone (now just reached 10mg), plus I take 15mg Lansoprazole and once a week 70mg Alendronic Acid. I started well, feeling great with the loss of my joint pain, but after

Rheumatologist diagnosis
Hi My Rheumy says my PMR is atypical with a normal CRP . My ESR is 39 . Which she believes is normal and it’s due to my weight - 14 stone . Wants to refer me to physio, this will be excruciating . The pain already makes me feel sick and like I’m going to pass out . She did ‘query’ inflammatory arthritis

Pred and unable to sleep
Hello. I often end up on several courses of prednisolone over the autumn and winter due to chest infections. Usually needing more than one course of steroids to settle my asthma back down I struggle to sleep with pred, especially for the first 2 - 3 nights. Does anyone have suggestions for helping?

Cutting a 1mg tablet into 4?
Having got down to 10mg I’ve been tapering prednisolone by approximately 0.5mg a month. I’m now at 1mg and looking to reduce further in a couple of weeks but a little nervous about a 50% reduction to 0.5mg. Has anyone successfully cut plain 1mg tablets into 4 to produce a 0.75mg dose or is there a better

Methotrexate sensitivity
I found out this morning that I seem to have a sensitivity to Methotrexate. My liver function test result is 60 and after a break from the drug, it was 23. This has happened twice before. The rheumatology nurse says to miss my dose on Thursday and she will get back to me with a plan after speaking to

Alternate day prednisolone.
I have been on Prednisolone since June 2018. I have gradually reduced the dose and got down successfully to 4mg/day. I have reduced further using DSNS but have always relapsed after a couple of weeks. Alternate day prednisolone is used in some situations in Paediatrics. It is thought to reduce adrenal

What would you do?
Hello, I haven't checked in for a very long time because everything had been going ok.I've been on Prednisolone for 3 years this Christmas after getting diagnosed with PMR back in October 2020. Initial advised taper was too sharp, I flared very quickly and painfully. But, after joining this forum back

3rd attempt at tapering down from 5mg prednisolone.
Diagnosed May 2022, started with 30mg tapering down until I was on 7mg when symptoms began to appear again. I continued down to 2mg hoping the body would adjust but could not move much so doctors increase dose and i start tapering down again, back to 4 and symptoms return, back to 6 and awaiting a call

steroids and diuretics
we may need to discuss some diuretics with the GP. Mum is currently receiving some respite care and her legs are becoming swollen….they’re not as good as insisting on the elevation as I do at home. I notice there’s a bit of a flag with prednisolone and furosemide due to potassium issues. Has anyone
