delaying Prednisolone by a few hours

hello, back again for some advice.

I was diagnosed with PMR/GCA three and a half years ago and after a relapse I am now on 4mg.

Next week I will have an abdominal and urinary tract ultrasound at 11am. I was instructed not to eat or drink for 6 hours before and to drink one litre of water one hour before the test.

I usually have my Prednisolone between 7 and 9 am , with breakfast.

I don’t want to put the alarm at 5am to eat something before my tablets as I will get stressed and unable to go back to sleep. Should I take them with only water before my ultrasound or wait until after, with some food, which could be around 12 am?

Thank you for any helpful suggestion.

In your position I would have my Pred with me and a banana or something and take it straight after the test. In my experience adverse symptoms do not build up too badly, particularly at your stage of the disease. I would definitely want to facilitate the accuracy of the test, they are currently gold dust.

I agree with SheffieldJane.

I hope all goes well for you on the day.

To be honest, taking it for one day with a glass of water without breakfast is unlikely to be a problem. Maybe take half before bed and the rest as soon as the test is done? I'm just thinking of the possibility of a delay and how well you will feel though it shouldn't be too bad - just the same as forgetting ...

thank you. I have never split the dose before. I think I will opt for the post ultrasound option with a banana, pretending I forgot it!
