Time for a change
I have the BRAC 2 gene and have had a mastectomy and full hysterectomy to give me the best chance at a long and health life but realised that despite having major surgery I haven’t got my backside up off the couch and am so unfit - it dawned on me how ridiculous this was. So here I am on day two and

Effectiveness of Radical Prostatectomy Versus External Beam Radiation Therapy Plus Brachytherapy in Patients with High-risk Localized PCa.
New study below. When I opted for Radical Prostatectomy [RP] 14 years ago it was on the basis of 10-year survival (from an online tool that used a half-dozen parameters, including age. Over the years I have heard oncologists saying that RP is no loger the gold standard, but survival studies continue

FYI Re medical marijuana
For those who are curious about this option, here is my feedback. I recently received a medical marijuana card in MA. Recreational marijuana is now available too in MA but the dispensary told me the recreational items aren’t as broad as medical. I bought a vape pen but — just like back in college when

Ear pain and vasculitis
Yes, vasculitis can cause ear problems in the outer ear and great pain. It can cause inner ear problems too. The immunosuppressant drugs you need for treatment can make ear infections worse. But the vasculitis meds like rituxan or medical marijuana greatly reduce the outer ear pain.

Against the clock!
Mr PB30 i have been informed that I need to lose 6 stone before I can have a gaul bladder removal operation. I had an operation last year to remove 30 gaul stones from my bike duct. Anyway the clock is ticking. Say I manage to lose 2 lbs a week: that's 42 weeks! I may have to undergo the first operation

Benefits of THC and CBD marijuana for GPA Vasculitis
My wife has been using medical marijuana in THC and CBD form for about a year for maintenance with gpa vasculitis and it has controlled her illness very well where other drugs like azathioprine made her very sick. It is a godsend, and her physician is very surprised. It makes sense, because marijuana

Latent Gleason Number 5.
New Japanese study. I don't know what percentage of U.S. men are diagnosed with Gleason score 4+5, 5+4 or 5+5, based on a biopsy, but in this Japanese cohort ~11% were 'GP5 positive'. However, ~25% (!!!) were 'latent GP5' "absence of GP5 in the biopsy specimen, but presence of GP5 in the prostatectomy

ADENOMYOSIS PAIN help
Doctor thinks I have Adenomyosis too, I am 44, 1 vaginal birth, tubal ligation and Novasure Endometrial Ablation in 2015. I had the ablation due to heavy abnormal bleeding. I have not had a period since then, which is great, BUT this pain that I have been experiencing the past year for up to 2 weeks

Grateful for this Forum (continued)
Other info I've learned on this forum, for which I'm grateful: I refused a prescription for a dopamine agonist and tossed out a prescription for Wellbutrin after what I've read on here about augmentation AND other research, which suggested that Wellbutrin can increase insomnia---the very last thing this

GCA helpful information (I hope).
17 months after I first had GCA symptoms , I thought it might be helpful to share/ summarise some useful information that I (and my GP!) have picked up in the meantime. 1 DIAGNOSIS: the recommendations are that if you have visual symptoms, you go straight on to 60 mg daily of steroids ( Prednisolone

Robot‐assisted radical prostatectomy [RARP] experience.
New study. I had open surgery 14 years ago. When RARP became more available I believe that it was oversold to patients, in the sense that experience was lacking. I kept reading that it took a lot of operations to become proficient. My friend & neighbor Jim rushed into RARP & his first day home woke

Ovary removal
Hi I had cervical cancer 10 years ago and kept my ovaries. Next week I’m getting one out as it’s attached to bowel and I get cysts on it..about 6 a year. I had a cyst removed 7 years ago and remember the pain being just as bad as the radical hysterectomy. Anyone had ovary removed recently? Just wondering

Estradiol & PCa.
New French study. Nalakrats will get a kick out of this one. "Our objective was to assess the concentration levels of sex steroids in prostatic tissue and serum, in two cohorts of patients with localized PCa or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)." "The levels of Total Testosterone (TT), Di-Hydro-Testosterone
