🎶 Keep Yourself Alive 🎶 (apologies to Queen and Brian May)
It’s three years ago now since I had a diagnosis of cancer, leading to a mastectomy and a lumpectomy. As horrendous as this all was at the time, it inadvertently kick started my running, as my physio from Macmillan (the charity) made a daft suggestion about get me running. “Errr, no, I’ll do any other

You reached a great place to express your concerns and get advice from those that have been in your exact position. I am 17 minutes post operative from a radical prostatectomy using the da Vinci and amusing a daily routine of Cialis, a pump three times a week to facilitate blood flow and overall mail

Agoraphobia is a horror story
4 years ago I was diagnosed with agoraphobia. Until that moment, I didn't know it existed. When I left the psychiatrists office, I went home, still completely lost in thought, went right to the computers and googled it. I was confused for weeks. How did I acquire such a phobia? Is the Dr sure? Ever

Who Are You?
'Who are you?' Asked the Caterpillar 'I hardly know at present, at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.' 'What do you mean by that?' said the Caterpillar sternly. 'Explain yourself!' 'I can't explain myself, I'm

Medical marijuana
Hi everyone, I know this is a touchy subject but I have a question. A friend of mine who has a medical marijuana card due to cancer shared one of her edibles with me. I have neuropathy in my arms/hands and was having a bad day. It was a low dose but I haven’t been pain free in years. For a whole day

The result (other than typical) from the 18F-DCFPyL PET/CT Scan on 12-21-2018 at NIH found: Abdomen/Pelvis: Focal uptake in a right internal iliac lymph node consistent with PSMA overexpression. Right bladder diverticulum also noted. Next Steps: Biopsy of the node will be sampled in the next week or

The wait is over, surgery completed 12/18
After the agonizing months of wait and indecision I had the da Vinci Radical Prostatectomy on Dec 18th. My recovery has gone well and have been liberated from my cath since yesterday. Now I'm trying to adapt to the new world order. I got some of those Depends. The ones with the virile studly guy on

Medical marijuana
Anyone that uses it. What is your preferred method of use? Did you change from another method? I am offered a trial of it but I don't know much about it.

Breast Cancer Cell arrive again for me after 13 years
I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer back in November 2005. I had a complete Mastectomy and nineteen Lymph Nodes removed. A port was put in my chest and I received six months of hard Chemo. When that was completed I was put on Tamoxifen for twelve years and at each visit with my Doctor I was told I was

Yet another surgery v. radiation study.
New paper below. Although men with advanced PCa are well-beyond this issue, studies such as this counter the belief in some quarters that one should never choose surgery. "Invasion of the Prostate Snatchers" (by Mark Scholz and Ralph H. Blum) is often mentioned. Urologists know nothing about cancer

Pridiction tools / Nomograms
There are two on MSK I think to apply to me, they are: Post - Radical Prostatectomy - When I plug in my #s it tells me the following: 15-year prostate cancer-specific survival would be ---- 64 % The BCR #s are not too favorable, but the overall survival rate isn't too bad, at my age of 67. This would

Worst fears confirmed. 3rd cycle failure. Shuttered!
OTD came & I knew it hadn't worked. I'm so torn apart and angry. What's wrong with me. I can't even face husband, he keeps apologising for the vasectomy he did before meeting me. I think the world is making fun of me as people around me are having kids like fruits. It's time to accept my fate and I

New to the club
Greeting all, i'm a new here. Found this support group while scavenging the internet for information about the disease. I've just been diagnosed this week with a "aggressive localized prostate cancer" as they say. No symptom yet. PSA is 15, G8 and both the biopsy and the MRI says no invasion

Does normalcy exist on this journey?
There isn't a single place in me that hasn't been touched by this struggle and I am wondering if any women here could speak to how their lives have changed? I want to know if everyone is as obsessed as me! For me, it feels like every moment, every decision, from what I am eating to how I am thinking

Nagging ache
Had a mastectomy Oct 15, and it doesn’t feel right, if I lift or stretch, I get this horrible nagging feeling, in the back by shoulder blades, and sometimes it catches my breath and makes me cough, any ideas on what to do to ease this would be good.x
