Hi..I had a total gastrectomy 6.5 years ago and still suffer with bile reflux that at times is quite bad still but generally okay. One of the things suggested I take is Colestyramine powder and also Gaviscon Advance or similar like Acidex Advance as you mention although I don't take either now. It is a difficult one as depends on what you eating and when also. I still have issues swallowing food or liquids at times that is painful where the join is, and regurgitate the first couple of mouthfuls of food on a regular basis, have had endoscopies over the years that shows an ulcerated oesophagus but one gets used to the issues after a total gastrectomy and one learns to live with it. I also take Creon tablets as the pancreas doesn't produce the enzymes needed to digest food.
Not very helpful I am afraid but really wanted to say one gets round the issues thrown up and suggest discuss with your Specialist Nurse and dietitian.
