Life after transplant
I read a lot about people struggling after transplant to get back to normal life and it’s clear that for many “normal” is not what they had before diagnosis. I don’t know if I am in a minority or we only tend to speak out when things are bad but my life is amazing now. My bloods are all in normal ranges

How Do I Choose a Kidney Transplant Center/Hospital?

Lung cancer trial of RET inhibitor selpercatinib achieves durable responses in majority of patients with RET gene fusions.
For patients with non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLC) marked by RET gene fusions, the targeted therapy selpercatinib was well tolerated and achieved durable objective responses, or tumor shrinkage, in the majority of participants in the Phase I/II LIBRETTO-001 trial, according to researchers from The

How do you calculate cancer free years?
Hi All, I was diagnosed with 2B non small cell adenocarcinoma lung cancer December 2019. 2/20/2020 I had my upper left lobe removed. Beginning of March I started chemo. Last chemo 5/6/2020. Scan 6/21/2020 (NED). 2 years and 5 years are considered milestones. What date do I use as the start date

The great Pred debate
Yes we all want to come off them and yes Rhumi's are totally focused on getting us off them. However, it is my understanding that people who've had an organ transplant will be on Pred for life. Sooo, if you have a kernackered auto immune system, maybe you'll be on Preds for life. If Rhumi could come

Impact of Vasectomy on the Development and Progression of PCa: Preclinical Evidence
New study below [1]. A post on the possible influence of vasectomy on PCa development might seem like navel gazing at this point, but the subject continues to interest me. When the first "bad news" about vasectomy was published long ago, the reaction was unexpected. Rather than warn men about to be

Invitation to see a presentation about fictional and real-life cardiac devices :)
Hi everyone. As many of you know, I'm living the dream and doing a PhD about literary representations of chronic heart disease. I have recorded a presentation about a little bit of my recent research, looking at the fictional cardiac devices of Peter Bunzl's children's novel Cogheart, and how these relate

Ntpobnp blood test
Hi all. I had a bone marrow transplant 2 years ago. It put stress on my heart. Last week i had a echocardiogram which has come back good!!! Though my bnp level is 600... i am 38. So too high. My consultant is not worried though. Does this sound right?? Does a high bnp always mean heart failure? Back
