Hi! I got my kidney transplant in July 2020 too! I urinate a lot a night too (i’d say between 2-4 times) i’ve seen the scale go up too but my weight gain has been mostly because of the prednisone and always being hungry. But it’s normal to have a certain amount of water retention even with a healthy kidney :) hope this helps !

Congrats on your transplant!!

Make sure you tell your transplant team regarding your weight gain and getting up during the night often to urinate. You could be retaining fluid. Do you notice any swelling in your ankles of hands? The doctors should be able to help you with this. Some immunosuppressant meds can cause this too. That's why it's important to tell your doctor's about this issue you are having.

Take care and keep us posted.

I am living well 20 + years since my transplant.

If it persists, just keep telling the doctor. From personal experience, he probably figures it will go away on it's own. But when it interferes with life....that is another story.

4 kg swing is a bit high, I have 3/4 pound weight swings 2/3 times a week - depending what I eat and how much water I drink. In my view as long as GFR is good, Tacro levels, WBC count are in range & feet are not swelling - then the anxiety level gets minimized. As far as frequent urination, I have begun eliminate foods that have diuretic effect for dinner & watch water intake after 6/7pm - that has helped me a lot. Had my transplant in July 19. Yes your team should be in loop... for such changes & observations. Good Luck !

Your transplant was so recent. I just hit the 19 month mark and my body continues to adjust. Just give it some time and watch it.
