Fibroscan score of 17.2 (NAFLD)
Hi everyone, back in December I saw my GP and had blood tests done for a different health issue (cardiology referral), and he phoned me up to say that my liver emzymes were high and he was putting in for an emergency referral to hepatology and a liver scan. Next week I was asked to come in for a second

Alcoholic cirrhosis Hepatic encephalopathy
Partner is currently coming round from being sedated due to Hepatic encephalopathy. The doctors say he is also withdrawing from alcohol. The upsetting thing is one of the first words he said to me when I went to visit was to tell me to f off.. I've since been back to visit and it's mostly abuse I get

Dr. Jones' Knowledge
Several times a week I want to share some of Dr. Jones' statements regarding PBC These are all taken from his book The Definitive Guide for Patients Who Have Primary Biliary Cholangitis. I think it's important to share some of the basics of this complicated disease. If you have any questions

ESRD Treatment Choices Model report
Since January 2012, CMS has implemented a ESRD Treatment Choices Model in 30% of the US. The goal was to increase home dialysis, increase kidney transplants. Home dialysis and kidney transplants in the US are FAR FAR below other developed nations. Only 12% use home dialysis and only 2.85 have transplants

Liver Cancer
I was diagnosed with liver cancer by my consultant yesterday (Friday 31st May 2024). They are going to take a liver biopsy in a couple of weeks as I am going on holiday next Monday. Then once this is done I will be having radiography. I am going to be positive and hopefully fight this all the way

pain in left side
Hi have Chorrosis of the liver and have been good up until today. I have felt discomfort in my left side and it goes up the left side of my back to my neck. I did contact my local gp who is going to do bloods on Tuesday as there extremely busy. Will it have something to do with my diagnosis? Or anyone

Nicotine…… a complete no-brainer.
Update most don’t know about nicotine, you should. Read my previous post if you’re wondering about it. I’ll soon be off c/l. I have experimented with nicotine and it seems to work better than the meds. My sense of smell is returning. I’m smelling things that I wish I couldn’t smell, lol. I forgotten

caregiver for family member
My mil is a 65-year-old woman who has been on dialysis for over a year. She has had CKD for 20+ years, along with diabetes, HTN, and arthritis. I was looking for community online support because sometimes we feel information overloaded. She has been suffering from severe itching, and nothing seems to

Hi everyone and Happy New Year
my name is Jill and it’s been along while since I’ve posted anything. I was diagnosed in 1999. Aged 39. Despite being very unwell for months and being ‘fobbed ’ off by my Gp. By the time I was diagnosed I had Saddle Nose deformity. Like alot of you even as a nurse I was very scared and felt alone

getting help with care
I posted before about hoping to take my partner on holiday - which is looking unlikely and also irresponsible. He has cirrhosis which is fairly stable, having paracentesis again soon - but he’s tried and weak and pretty much not able to do much. The trouble is that he insists he is fine, can look after

THE “C” WORD
Immediately we hear or see Cirrhosis from a Doctor or imaging report, all we can think about as a liver disease newbie is “how many years do i have left to live” and “how long is the waiting list for a
liver
transplant
“ Mention it to an acquaintance and they always say “yeah you drank too much alcohol
