Anyone been recruited into Pearl study?

Has anyone on here been recruited on to the Pearl study and if so how did they get signed up?

Pearl is an acronym of - Prospective Cohort for Early Detection of Liver Cancer

The Pearl study aims to recruit 3000 people with liver cirrhosis caused by one of the underlying conditions of HCV, HBV, alcohol-related, NAFLD and haemochromatosis, who have never been diagnosed with HCC. Participants will be recruited from 40 NHS sites throughout the UK and will be asked to attend at least 3 study visits. Thereafter they will be followed up via their medical history for up to 10 years using NHS digital. Pearl will collect blood, urine, clinical and imaging data at the study visits.

I'm seeing my consultant next month and will ask if he has any knowledge of it.

A bit more information here, along with a map of the 40 NHS sites involved

Hey Tiger 🐅 😎..Well that's a very interesting study . I'm under the QE liver unit but wasn't even aware of this PEARL ..

have not been approached myself but I sure wouldn't mind taking part ..

Maybe I could send my hepatologist secretary an email to find out ?

How strange as I saw your post and made a note to ask my consultant next week about it but 'lo and behold !'- an invitation to participate just arrived in the post this morning. It will just involve additional blood and urine tests during my regular monitoring. There is no direct benefit to any individual participant nor any additional imaging / screening but I am certainly going to participate. I guess you can ask your consultant if your care is at one of the paricipating hospital NHS trusts.
