Is HE always inevitable with severe chronic liver disease?
My daughter has been told there is nothing more the doctors can do for her multiple hepatic adenomas. Transplant is not an option, due to serious underlying health conditions and also total lack of fitness . She has at least 15 of these tumours taking over her liver now. She has had a resection last

Alcohol related cirrhosis and drinking
I was diagnosed with cirrhosis in September 2023 after a fibroscan. I am considered compensated due to my lab work and no ascites or symptoms. I am an alcoholic and made the stupid mistake of drinking a glass of red wine at a Christmas party last week. Of course now I am hating myself and absolutely

Liver damage caused by Herbalife products
I am a member of nutrition facts.com which recently posted a video, all based on current research, talking about the US but I know Herbalife products are used in the UK and often showing remarkable pictures of weight loss so thought I’d post it as a warning. When I was first diagnosed with fatty liver

bile ducts
I had a blood test few weeks back result was Alp 177and Alt 50. GP repeated them and they came back Alt 30, Alp 139 BUT GGT 105 which wasn’t tested previously. I paid to have an ultrasound scan which showed intrahepatic bile duct dilation of 3.6mm. Everything else was ok in terms of liver gall bladder

Liver ultrasound painful
Hi there everyone ☺️Just wondered if anyone else had the same experience I had. I've been told I have PBC and after a recent fibroscan (which was painless) was told I may have fibrosis so was sent for another ultrasound to check. I know I have fat on my liver so I'm not worried to hear about that but

Stopping diuretics
I have been on diuretics since 2022 and finally reduced to 25mg spironolactone which I’m due to come off. Now recompensated/compensated. It’s been a long journey since 480mgs of a combo or ferusamide & spironolactone. I’ve heard weight gain might occur when I stop. Has anyone experienced this? My hope

biopsy report, still waiting to see consultant.
hi all, had an email with the below conclusion of my biopsy, I have a very minuscule left lobe which they want to biopsy but were unable to due to the size. So the right lobe was biopsied. Until I see the consultant I don’t really understand the results, I know none of you are specialist or doctors

Firboscan results NAFLD - general question about scale
Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD or NASH) and fibroscan results. Has anyone come across scale that diagnosed F4 (cirrhosis) based on fibroscan result below 11 kPa? (NAFLD or NASH) I found this for example: Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD or NASH) 2 to 7 kPa F0 to F1 Is normal.

Help and advice for mum
Hey All, My mum has hidden her drinking, liver issues and cirrorsis for 15 years as I’ve been living in a different country. She was taken into hospital last winter, and I was told it was related to her liver, but no real further detail. Attending a consultant appointment with her last week has unearthed

Fibroscan
Hi, I’ve got ongoing liver issues due to alcohol, which I am seeking help for. I had a Fibroscan 6 months ago with a kpa of 7 and S2 fat (268). The heptologist advised to keep drink to moderation and eat a healthy diet and to rescan in 6 months. Recent ultrasound a few months ago shows fatty liver

Compensated liver
I have went from ddcompensatd to compensated liver disease since being diagnosed in August 2023. I keep seeing prognosis is 9 to 12 years. Is this correct or can you live past 12 years. I haven't had any alcohol since diagnosed

Confused and seeking clarification
Hi folks . . . I have attached a letter from Hepatology which (to me anyway!) appears to contradict itself? In summary . . . a US in September 2021 showed increased parenchymal echogenicity (PE) due to fatty liver. Follow up bloods and a CT in April 2022 revealed nothing further. I then had a telephone

Blood test Results AST/GGT
Hi all.I have a history of pancreatitis and liver issues. I did a private blood test in the week and it's come back that my AST and GGT are both high. GGT is worse. Should I be concerned? I'm going to ring my GP tomorrow for another blood test but wondering if I should go to A+E? I'm in pain and managing

liver transplant : build up
hi everyone I’m really in need of some support. I’m 37 and have liver failure . I went to see my consultant in Belfast a few weeks ago and was my doctor when I attended Antrim hospital hospital. She was extremely direct and blunt with myself. She said my score is is high but didn’t tell me the range.

The ups and downs of our rollercoaster OC journeys
When I recovered from debulking earlier this year I gave myself a good talking to and vowed not to let myself go from blood check to blood check worrying about them. I was so pleased my first check showed bloods were normal so thought my plan was working but then prior to the 6 month check developed
