Blood test Results AST/GGT

Hi all.I have a history of pancreatitis and liver issues.

I did a private blood test in the week and it's come back that my AST and GGT are both high. GGT is worse.

Should I be concerned? I'm going to ring my GP tomorrow for another blood test but wondering if I should go to A+E?

I'm in pain and managing it with tramadol and nefopam. I've lost 3-4lb this week.

I'm not being sick, but I do have bad bile bowels.

Thanks.

Hiya. I would ring 101 for advice if you are worried. Hope this helps. Best wishes Golly

111 is NHS 24 - 101 non emergency police number.

That's what I meant to write. I was only trying to be HELPFUL.

hi how high is your GGT and AST? My doctor just done a whole loads of blood tests on me and my Alt came back 91 Ast 43 and GGT 174. When they called me the only thing the doc said lower the Tacrolimus from 3.5 to 3mg and the pred from taking 15 a day to 10 and 15mg alternating between the two every day.

Can't lie! I am worried too but no one explained anything. I just saw the results on the system myself.

Hi koswecan, GGT can often be high when the liver is struggling with a toxin of some sort, whether that's environmental or something you're consuming. Medication can cause this, in a similar way to alcohol. Best ask your doctor what can be done to reduce this. Good luck.

This is one for your GP. Get an appointment with them and take it from there. I dont personally think this is one for A&E. By all means get an opinion from NHS 111, but to me this is something your GP should handle and not A&E.

My wife's LFT's were all normal except her GGT, and Billi's. So GGT was between 50-94 at its highest billis in the 40-130 range. In her case she was dealing with a drug induced hemolytic reaction.
