Just got my results. Am panic stricken. I knew I had a fatty liver. I'm obese and a dreadfully controled diabetic. My appt at hospital has been moved forward. Am I dying?

No you are not dying. Unless you have a raft of symptoms of a failing liver then even with a high kPa score you are not at a point of no return.
If your condition is related to NAFLD / MASLD (Non Alcohol Related Fatty Liver Disease / Metabolic Disfunction Associated Liver Disease) then your kPa is in the cirrhosis range BUT this may also potentially be higher than accurate - your body size can throw off the accuracy of fibroscan as can any ongoing liver inflammation so the result needs to be looked at alongside recent bloods and any other tests you've had done or will be having.
Badly controlled diabetes and carrying too much weight are both big risk factors for NAFLD/MASLD so there will be some hard work to do on your part to try and turn this around.
The BLT has an excellent page about this liver condition at:- britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...
Good to hear you have an upcoming appointment at hospital to start you on a path to treatment and monitoring.

Agree entirely with this. Fibroscans are notorious for over-calling cirrhosis in obese people….I am in a similar situation with 28.8kpa with a BMI of 36. There are a lot of obese people who are getting cirrhotic Fibroscans but nothing showing elsewhere. Wait for your bloods and ultrasound. My U/S just showed fatty liver (and my bloods didn’t even show that) therefore, whilst no-one can be 100% sure, there is a strong view from my medical team that, if I lose weight, the fatty liver should disappear and they will then Fibroscan me again when I am under 25 BMI (in 1 to 2 years) to get a better reading. Do not read ANYTHING into getting an appointment moved up, they will either have had a cancellation or, they will simply not want you to be worried sick (which you clearly are) so will run the other tests. I think you just need to take away the fact that if you have lots of excess fat between the probe and your liver, a Fibroscan cannot really be relied on. It is like any test, it needs to be looked at in light of everything else.
Assuming you are relatively symptomless, you are not dying. If you don’t lose weight over the next year and control your diabetes however, you might be lining yourself up for bigger problems. I would treat this as a warning shot at this stage.
