People with high blood levels of niacin, (vitamin B3), may be more likely to have a heart attack or stroke than those with lower levels
Niacin was one of the first treatments prescribed to lower
LDL
or “bad” cholesterol. However, eventually niacin showed to be less effective than other cholesterol-lowering drugs and was associated with other negative effects and higher mortality rates in previous research."

Happy Days are here again - PSA post IMRT
Hey y'all, I had labs done at AIS as I was there for a post op check after the 28 IMRTs. T under 10 and PSA dropped again from 5.2 to
3.89
💙
,
but I normally go thru Kaiser and this was Quest Labs. I think Kaiser sends out PSA to another lab. This PSA is the lowest in a year PTH

hi all, My GP isn’t the most proactive so I find I need to push a little at times. I’m looking here to see if I should be concerned and push my doctor for further testing? recently I had my yearly physical, and also had an ultrasound which showed fatty liver. Liver function tests were normal, but

High Cholesterol and Statins
This is made up of HDL 1.73
LDL
4.1 and triglycerides making up the rest. I have a a GP review call on Monday and am expecting him to suggest statins as there is apparently more than a 10% risk of developing heart disease or having a stroke. Can anyone advise if there is a BEST STATIN out there?

I’ve not had much meat and no dairy for the last 6 weeks or so as my cholesterol numbers (overall and
LDL
) are high so I’m trying to avoid animal products. However I didn’t think B12 levels could drop THAT quickly. I eat LOTS of fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, avocado etc.

Value of LDH
I've been dealing with PCA 11 years and I've seen a number of doctors along the way but never have discussed or had my LDH tested. A young oncologist where I had my PSMA scan requested PSA, testosterone and LDH tests to go along with the scan. My LDH was at the low end of the "range" (but we still didn't

Disrupted sleep with increased T4
Hello dear Thyroid UK, I had thyroid cancer in August 2021 with part of my thyroid and a parathyroid removed. Since then, I've been trying to get an ideal dose of Levothyroxine T4. I did take a very low dose of T3 (Cytomel) briefly. I felt great alert-wise but experienced headaches, nausea and anxiety

Having Crohn’s disease I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this drug and if it has proven to be effective or not? my diet is pretty limited at moment but I’m hearing that this will inhibit inflammation to allow me to open up my diet more.

Statins & Steroids
I’ve been advised to take statins due to high cholesterol levels of 7.0, Serum triglycerides 2.3, HDL 2.5, HDL ratio 2.8,
LDL
3.4, non HDL 4.5. I’m reluctant to take more meds but I’m unclear of the meaning of all the results and if I should take statins or not.

My reaction to Crestor & Nubeqa combo. I need to make some adjustments. This study says simvastatin is best against APC. Your thoughts?
I'm using Crestor 5 mg plus 5mg Zetia and my
ldl
has gone down to a level, which puts me at risk of infection. Plus, my brain isnt functioning nearly as well as it used to. My current
ldl
is 27.
