Recovery in exercise routine
Hi all, I have read that it will take longer for us (people with kidney transplants and on immunosuppressants) to recover after exercise. Do you find this to be true for you? What does that feel like? How do you structure your exercise to account for the need for recovery time (if you do)? I feel

PKD belly
Kidney transplant in 2011 for polycystic kidney disease. I have developed pkd belly as my native have grown to the size of small footballs. I'm 78 so major surgery to remove them is quite risky. I'm hopeful for a less invasive procedure, such as aspiration where the cysts are punctured by a needle and

Hi there. I was diagnosed last Friday with a UTI which travelled up into the kidneys causing unbelievable pain. I had to go to A&E in the middle of a night and this is when I was diagnosed and they gave me some antibiotics, seven day course of which I finished on Friday. But I still had some back pain

My next adventure.
Well guys, I had an MRi last Friday. They found a 2 inch complex mass attached to my left kidney. There is a 60% chance that it is malignant. I am being scheduled to meet with a surgeon. I'm scared of course. Anybody have any experience with this? If they remove it, should I just have the mass

The Queen is ready!
Hi everyone. It has been a while but I'm still here just haven't had time to get on and make a post. My latest thing is a few weeks ago I found out my parathyroid is acting up so the doctor put me on cincalet to see if it will help me. He did mention that surgery may have to happen if it doesn't adjust

Von Hippel Lindau Syndrome
Hi APS friends- 2 years ago I underwent a partial nephrectomy to remove a large (2 inch in diameter) tumor in my kidney. Pathology showed that I have/had clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Throughout my life small tumors have been found in different places in my body, but all benign. I was

Home dialysis concerns
My husband was diagnosed with end stage renal failure in May 2024. He was going to a dialysis clinic 3 times a week for his treatments. Last week we started the home dialysis training process. As the caregiver I’m really nervous about this, afraid I may be able to do it or may harm my husband during

My aunt has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She's already lost a kidney and was widowed 13 months ago. She's a wonderful woman who has kept smiling and remained good-humored through everything, but how much can one person take? Her husband was my late father's little brother and my last

Back on Haemodialysis
Well that moment has happened. I am back on dialysis. I have been so lucky. I am 29 years and 3 months transplanted. I have been declining with stage 5 CKD over the last couple of years. Originally I had atypical HUS which caused my kidney failure. I had my catheter put in yesterday and haemodialysis

Recurring UTIs
Hello friends, Seeking advice to support my dad with advanced PC. Good news, he just finished Pluvicto (6 rounds) and his PSAs are below 1. Bad news, he has literally had one UTI after another for about 18 months. After being hospitalized multiple times for them, the doctors started testing him

On 60 mgs, potassium low, magnesium low, cramps, dizzy, fatigue ,the runs etc...
Due to reduce to 40mgs tomorrow but really feeling very strange, balance off, BP low for me, I'm on 2 x meds for BP which are contraindicated with steroids as should increase BP?? The symptoms are consistent with low potassium levels (call from hospital to tell me that) but worsening. Eating everything

Nitrofurantoin - good or bad?
Not sure that this is posted in the best place, but I don't seem to be able to access any other links atm. I have been prescribed this antibiotic for traces of blood in urine just over 2 days ago. 50mg to be taken at night. Only on the third dose so it's early days, but had quick urine test done

Kidney Transplant
Hi everyone… I’m 36 years old male from Australia and have kidney failure last month. I’m currently on dialysis. The average wait time for kidney transplant in Australia is 2 to 7 years. My doctor told me i can get transplant early due to age factor. My question is that can someone explain their transplant
