Ultrasound has come back as normal.

brief copy of report as follows

Both kidneys apprear normal in size, shape and echo-texture . right kidney 101mm, left kidney 102 mm. No evidence of hydronephrosis, renal calculi or focal lesion seen.

Bladder no obvious focal lesion identified

No abnormalities seen in the liver, aorta or gallbladder.. Normal size spleen No obvious abnormality in the head or body of pancreas .

Since upped dose of Nitrofurantoin symptoms seem to have subsided with cystitis

wait now to see if further investigation is needed.

They are no debating as to whether the camera test is needed after latest urine test and ultrasound has showed no issues

GP comments:_

OS6758) - Normal,no infection

Laboratory comment

Routine culture is no longer performedif the WBC count is less than 50 /mm3.

(Significant UTI in adults (unless pregnant)

is very unlikely below this count).

Microscopy

White blood cells <10 /mm3

Red blood cells <10 /mm3

Epithelial cells +.

Those results show no sign of an infection currently. So they don't do a culture. But it IS possible that there are a few bacteria left that COULD multiply again and cause symptoms. But you will have to wait and see.

I am focussing on the comment which says Bladder no obvious focal lesion identified and hoping this is also a positive amongst the other comments which note no abnormalities seen. All blood tests also returned as normal.

My GP is Mr Methodical when it comes to urine tests. About 8 yrs ago and since , his attention to detail has spared me unnecessary investigations and antibiotics for awful persistent cystitis like symptoms initially managed by my lovely but chaotic gynaeco . With that in mind, when was this sample taken and what dose of Nitro were you on at the time.

Sample taken on Tuesday and I had been on the antibiotics for four days previously

dose was 100mg twice a day I am assuming that the antibiotics have kicked in fully for the urine infection So tests are now all normal. Hopeful with all the facts taken into consideration and ultrasound clear this is a precautionary test with the camera. 🫰🫰

Its still a pity yr Dr didnt do a lab sample before the increase to 100mgs to be certain you had an infection in the first place. My GP refuses to prescribe for cystitis unless a sample has been sent off prior. He says its' the only way he knows what he is dealing with'.

But that takes time while you suffer

But its important to know if gillsky8 is getting breakthrough infections on preventive antibiotics. Unless its a Friday afternoon, a sample be sent to the lab and antibiotic prescibed immediately on a best guess basis till the result is back.
