Kidney transplant in 2011 for polycystic kidney disease. I have developed pkd belly as my native have grown to the size of small footballs. I'm 78 so major surgery to remove them is quite risky. I'm hopeful for a less invasive procedure, such as aspiration where the cysts are punctured by a needle and the fluid is drawn out. Has anyone had that procedure or know of someone who has? Can't seem to find someone in Colorado who does it.
thank,

hello Harawi l am in the same position, here in the UK. I had a transplant in 2008z l am 78 and my kidneys and liver are now really big. The rest of me is skinny and l am a very small woman anyway, about five foot one. I would very much like help with this but no one here is willing to do any invasive surgery of any sort. I really wish you luck and would love to hear how you get on if you find anyone who will operate on you.
From Canada, I've had one cyst aspirated. It was the best thing ever! It relieved a lot of my pain but it took a lot of convincing to get the doctors to do it. Unfortunately it filled up again, but I had six months of relatively little pain. There is another procedure that may help but would take even more convincing. Cyst Ablation --they drain the cyst and inject something to make sure it doesn't come back. But they can only do a couple of cysts like that. Anyway something to look into and hope you find the right doctor to help
I have had a PKD belly for years. But since I'm 72 now and had my transplant 3 and a half years ago, I have decided to let it be. I am not eager for another major surgery and right now am not having any back pain. My native kidneys are very large now and my major problem is finding clothes I can fit into. I need clothes with adjustable waistlines.
