I went to see the locum dr on Wednesday as I felt in need of reassurance and ended up with two new medicines
He told me I had a heart murmur and said I should try another water tablet and also another go at another heart medicine. The water tablet is Natrilix and the other one is Doxazosin. The Natrilix is slow release and works all day, I've to wait three days before starting the Doxazosin. Luckily I'm

Off to Duke tomorrow
. . . to see my rheumatologist and an orthopedic surgeon. After 10+ years of kicking the can down the road I concede its time for the hip replacement. I'm still on the young side (58,) but my avoidance manuvers have at least sent me farther into the future when the longevity of the replacements has

Daily Laughter Thursday
Daily Laughter Thursday I have made it smaller today as yesterdays was a wee bit long. I cannot tell a lie I have just woken up and I am too tired to do anymore. Honesty is the best policy. Whatever you do , just remember POETS day tomorrow but before tomorrow comes have a great day. Tomorrow never

Hope someone out there can offer some light at the end of my tunnel. I have come off hydroxychloroquine due to severe vertigo.
Have had total hip replacement with bone grafts made complicated by lupus and now my blood results on my liver are bad so cannot start on azathioprine. Has anybody had bad results which then recover enough to get on other meds? or am i going to just struggle with my Lupus unmedicated? Could just do with

Had enough of the NHS!
I am so angry and tearful today! The GP's are rubbish the only things they say is ''I can't help'' or '' what do you want me to do!'' Rung my pain management team 20 times in 6 weeks now! finally got through!! My infusions are suppose to be every 6 weeks maximum! I am lucky if I get them every 3 months

Necessity is a Mother, All Right
Glancing at the caller ID on my ringing cell phone, my stomach lurched. It was Dale, my husband, calling from another part of the house. These calls were often benign, asking for a cup of coffee or a special lunch. Then there were the others, the stomach-lurching kind, where he’d usually say two words

DIFFERING LEG LENGTHS
Has anyone suffered pain because of this, I have had a left hip replacement and a right knee replacement carried out over the last two years. I also suffer with lower back pain and sciatica, I believe that my right leg has always been a little longer than my left, my husband has always laughed and said

Sweating, shakiness alongside PMR problems - steroids or other cause.
I'm 67 and have a long history of dysthymia / chronic depression with exacerbations, and also moderate essential tremor affecting my hands and head. I've had two very successful hip replacements and have arthritis in my spine. Four years ago I had PMR which settled on steroids. This year the pain

Has anyone had a hip replacement on an effected limb? if so how did it go?
I have had lymphedema in my left leg for 26 years due to cancer and managed it quite well, 3 years ago I had a right hip replacement, again recovered well. But now the arthritis in my left hip is so painful that a replacement is the cards sooner rather than later. I have cellulitis many times in this

Which symptoms occur when?
My husband seems to have a strange progression of symptoms. He cannot swallow at all since he had elective surgery for hip replacement a year and a half ago. He is on a feeding pump for all of his nutrition consequently, since his initial major complications following surgery, he has maintained his weight

How to damage your liver - lessons from your genes
I recently posted a question on the "question" section asking if there were people out there with haemochromatosis and after three days, I had no answers, so I asked a supplementary question - who had heard of it. I then realised that the chances of people reading that were remote once their mental answer

Is the tiredness due to the PMR, the steroids, the depression or a mixture of the lot? How do you handle it?
Sometimes I think it's rather like 'The Dementors' in Harry Potter sucking the soul out of a person - only I feel as if someone has sucked my physical energy out of me - not that I've ever been very energetic. I have a self-referral form for exercise to fill in, so I might get some advice. I stopped
