INVOLVEMENT OPPORTUNITY - Haemochromatosis Research Project (UK)
This is especially a problem in men; the risks are thought to be less in women due to protection of
iron
-overload by menstrual blood loss. HH is easy to diagnose with a simple blood test and can be safely treated by the removal of blood to lower
iron
levels.

This week has been rough! Introducing...
Pictured above at my
iron
infusion last week. I did better with the
iron
infusion than with my first one, which is to say I didn't look 'like death pulled through a keyhole' - not my description 🤣🤣😅 That is not to say it was great, it still made the week hard to get through.

Masked pv?
So we are repeating
iron
tests and B12 apparently they are a bit low ( don't have the figures) .And then are was told that the RA could be masking PV. Just have to hope the Guys appointment comes through soon, as they didn't want to do a bmb to confirm whether it was et or pv.

Genetic test positive
In November 2023 my
iron
labs were increased. Ferritin 117 TSAT 58 my doctor said we would retest in six month and do genetic testing but wasn’t concerned. My results just came in and it showed homogenous for H63D. I haven’t been able to speak with him yet. I am extremely scared.

CBC test anemia: high MCV, MCH, low RBC and leukocytes?
He is 66 and began taking
iron
supplements after we discovered his age 50+ vitamins have no
iron
(and his diet has been poor). But now I'm thinking that may not be the issue. I know radiation fatigue can do a number of folks, as can ADT. Are the high/low values indicative of anything?

Neutrphils
Thank goodness Spring isn’t too far away 😊 Just to ask if anyone has been able to increase their neutrophils naturally, via diet or
iron
supplements? Since being on Tocilizumab, my levels have dropped from around 5 to 1.85. I have read on here that has happened to others.

Do I need to be medicated with these results ?
My suspicion is that I have a rT3 or possibly a conversion issue caused by a few issues, which I have been working through over the years;
/ Ferritin - this I believe to be the primary issue.

Results Advice
My
iron
seems to have gone down so I’m back to taking two supplements a day as I dropped it to one after my last results in November.

Latest blood tests
I’m guessing by looking at the above I may need to supplement
iron
and folate as they are normal range but low? Do you think that should likely be my next steps?

Malabsorption of drugs?
My stomach pH level was recently 8.1, so very low stomach acid, which is why I am not absorbing/processing B12,
iron
and folate. I also did a test which showed I have very low diamine oxidase in my gut so have histamine intolerance. My question is regarding my medication.

For reference I have Hashimotos, am gluten and dairy free, my vitamins and
iron
are ok after a long time working on them. I’m on 2 grains of Armour and have been on this dose for 6 weeks. I started on Armour on a low dose in March gradually working up to my current dose.

Aspirin-induced gastritis and gastrointestinal bleeding
Last month my doctor noticed that my
iron
level had dipped down to 16 from 64 in previous years. She suggested that I was having internal bleeding. Over the last couple years I’ve lived with stomach pain.
