Problems with Pascoe B12

Hi, I live in Holland and SI EOD. I have a prescription for Hydroxocobalamin HCL twice a week and the rest I order from Germany. (Rotexmedica/Panpharma). Because of the shortages Hydroxo B12 in Holland and Panpharma I ordered Pascoe and started to feel very poorly. I also have Hashimoto so I started to tweak my thyroid meds T4 and T3 but nothing was working. My folate, iron and Vit D are optimal. I now finally got my prescription Hydroxo HCL and after two injections starting to feel much better. But I still need extra B12 and I dont know what to order. Did anybody had the same problem with Pascoe? I phoned a German pharmacy and they said that there is only Hydroxo acetate in Germany and they dont know why Pascoe wouldn't have worked. So i dont know whether it is the brand that does not suit me or acetate in general. I had Pascoe batches 1421 and 1419 till 2026

Hi olga67,

I empathise with the dilemma you’re facing in regards to Hydroxocobalamin. I too had difficulties with my body in the early stages of my treatment of PA. I wasn’t absorbing hydroxoB12 correctly and was always feeling flat. In my attempt to research this issue I stumbled upon a website perniciousanemia.org.com which emphasised the difficulties that many people experience and that malabsorption could be the cause. This was me entirely!! From there I discovered the other forms of B12, in particular, methylcobalamin B12. I learned of the benefits of methylB12 to the body and that many people have some absorption issues (could be due to a genetic variation, which was my situation, which was confirmed with a simple genetic test for me) so, I ordered their methylcobalamin B12 from this website. This methylcobalamin is made by Oxford Biosciences LTD, a very reputable company, I followed with all the requirements, and the rest is history. Not only was I not responding well with Hydroxocobalamin I also developed neuropathy for which this condition debilitated my life. I had severe pain and had difficulty sleeping and walking. I suffered tremendously.

My life began turning around when I began my treatment of methylcobalamin daily but, this transition was not easy at all in those early days. My initial pain began to manifest more intensely for which I learned as ‘reversing out’, which can only be described as the result of nerves awakening again. This ‘reversing out’ was nearly two years before finally getting my life to today, finally free from pain. Today, I still SC methylcobalamin daily and will continue with this indefinitely. All doctors that I’ve seen over the last year or so, have suggested that I treat myself with less B12 but, I always disagree with them. I have knowledge and the power back in my hands and I know what’s best for my body. I feel energised and have my life back. I have some minor muscle pains but, overall I feel wonderful. If I had continued to follow the medical advice given to me in my early PA days, (one injection of hydroxo B12 every three months) I feel that I may not be alive today, I will NEVER be ‘gaslighted’ by any doctor about my self B12 treatment ever again. My serum B12 will remain high (active B12 is in a healthy range) and have this forum and PAS and perniciousanemia.org to thank for giving me the knowledge to turn my life around again.

I sincerely hope you may gain the confidence and knowledge required to make some life changing decisions regarding your own health. My story helped me but, your situation may vary greatly. Be an advocate for yourself, learn all you can and make the changes and decisions that are in your best interest first. Ask many questions especially on this forum. I sincerely wish you the best of luck with your journey to healing.

Hi GoneWithTheWind, I appreciate your extended answer. I've already ordered methylcobalamin from Germany, Arnika Apotheke. I hope that would help. Hugs :)
