Cirrhosis update
Well here I am again, not quite sure what I’m doing most of the time but still plodding along. Dad has stage 4 cirrhosis and as most of you know comes with a whole host of problems. I feel slightly more at ease this week then I have. He had a fall 2 weeks ago out of bed, spent 41/2 hours waiting for

Second Clinical Trial:
After consulting with our oncologist in Virginia, our former trial study doc, NIH, and Georgetown University, my husband has decided to participate in another clinical trial at Georgetown. This study has two arms, and he will be in the monotherapy only, Part 2 group, if accepted. This part of the study

Reminder from Simone
Hello everyone. Simone also reminded me that I hadn't posted for 4 years. PALLIATIVE CARE
Feeling very naked and exposed, Peeps has spent most of September in the Liver Unit at London Bridge Hospital but has finally been sent home to die. There is nothing more that can medically be done. He is now subject to Palliative Care at home with the help of the GP, District and Hospice Nurses but

ore details on degarelix (Firmagon)
After a single dose (120 mg) of degarelix to support my ST-ADT in conjunction with pelvic lymph node IMRT, my Testosterone level is castrate (>20 ng/dl). I added this as estradiol patches were slow to get there (T = 63 after 2 weeks). And I am feeling surprisingly good as previously reported with no

D-dimer, Radiation & Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation [DIC]
New study below [1]. I have a number of old posts on coagulation/nattokinase /D-dimer. Cancer increases the risk of life-threatening coagulation, as well as metastasis. Nattokinase, which can dissolve the fibrin in clots, is thought by many men to be protective, but I suspect that most simply take

It's never too late
Smoking was killing me, and on top of that I was paying a fortune to have a slow suicide, well thank God I was able to stop 12 years ago. Since then my life changed so much, I did put extra weight on but more about that later. Before I stopped smoking I was smoking 180 cigarettes a week, which I couldn't

Palliative Care
Has anyone experienced palliative care. I think I need help with cognition, my extreme debilitating side-effects (musculoskeletal) if I/F combo (which is worse on week off Ibrance), maybe anxiety & insomnia & some social anxiety issues I’m having due to loss of cognition. I am also having a brain

Hello to all from someone with RP, ADT, and IMRT
I just wanted to introduce myself. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in February of 2016 when my PSA rose to 10.6. I was GS 7 (4+3) and aggressive treatment was recommended. I chose RP and had surgery in April '16. The pathology report showed an extra-prostatic extension, but negative margins

Lost my mom to MSA
Hello everyone A month ago I lost my mom (55) to MSA. She had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2014 and was later diagnosed with MSA. Well, at least that's what they think. We still aren't 100 % sure. It has been a rough couple of years, watching her getting worse and worse. It started with

Here we go again.
I woke up in
Intensive
Care
, it was a different day. For 7 to 8 hours they'd been cutting bits away. Most of my oesophagus, some stomach and some glands, What's left joined back together by the surgeon's skillful hands.

A week after CABGX3
Finally out the other side of op, cannot remember much of
intensive
care
was only there overnight then moved straight to E Ward so no high dependency ward, I had to remove jacket/Brace as I was so hot and kept slipping up to my throat, stockings off I said I would have clotting injection instead.

Sidewhacked by Richter’s transformation twice: epilogue
About 5 short weeks ago I posted about my hubby being sidewhacked by RT for the 2nd time. His treatment using R-GDP was deemed best and he received 1 cycle. He had several bouts of confusion subsequently with a bleed in the brain as the likely culprit due to his low platelets. Alas, a head CT scan revealed

😱 Anyone got any hints or tips that I should be doing in the week leading up to op like diet and exercise? Thanks ❤️❤️

Advice/hope needed after fall
She was in
intensive
care
for 1 week then high dependency for nearly 2 weeks. She’s just been moved to a neurological recovery ward, awaiting to see what rehab she’ll need or where she’ll be transferred. She’s awake but very confused. It’s like she has dementia.
