Has anyone experienced palliative care. I think I need help with cognition, my extreme debilitating side-effects (musculoskeletal) if I/F combo (which is worse on week off Ibrance), maybe anxiety & insomnia & some social anxiety issues I’m having due to loss of cognition. I am also having a brain MRI since it’s been 2 years and I AM having serious cognitive issues!

Palliative Care
When I was first diagnosed my doctor suggested Pallitive care. I didn’t need the monthly visits as much as I needed the RN and Doctor to come to my place. They helped so much with pain meds and several side effects I was experiencing. They were a fountain of knowledge and just having them here listening to me helped so much. They set up in home physio for me after my hip replacement. I have since stopped seeing them as I am more mobile and able to take care of myself. I would highly recommend you meet with them.
Thank you it’s in the works—some docs go to home some don’t. I think helping me coordinate care (cognitively difficult—gets a bit overwhelming), PT/OT & a great nurse—maybe for pain relief alternatives (as I’m not big on narcotics as my balance and strength are off—don’t want to fall again. I think palliative care offers reiki, acupuncture, & numerous other things-oh n the doc is a physiotherapist—which is a specialist.
Hope your hip healed well and you are also feeling well. Thx for encouragement/insught
Quite truthfully, I am not even sure what that is for. I thought it was for end of life care or is it different. I should google and find out but for now, I am feeling okay (although I felt better last year at this time) have no real pain, just shortness of breath and bowel problems from Verzenio but other than that, I think I am still in the good place. I hope it can help you.
I've had both these problems. A Palliative Care doc is helping me get the pain under control. I went to a speech pathologist who specializes in helping people with strategies to deal with cognitive problems. The cognitive problems are probably all side effects from meds but I'm planning on neuro-psych testing from a neuro-psychologizt to determine if it is a dementia (Can treat with a med if necessary).
Good luck, take care ♥️
Yes, I sought palliative care last year in anticipation of a long chemotherapy regimen and not a good prognosis. It was a nice visit and I was prescribed extra steroids for after chemotherapy if I needed energy and ritalin for mental clarity. I've only used 1/2 a steroid pill one time in a year, but it's nice knowing they are available. I think it was worth the time. Hope this helps you.
My primary care doc is also a palliative care doc. She is wonderful. I see her every month and so far has helped me with many side effects of mbc and our meds and the anxiety that goes along with all this nonsense. One of the best decisions I have made since my dx! I would recommend a palliative care doc to everyone!
Palliative care is not just end of life. They work with anyone with a chronic disease!
