I ran across this yesterday on a diabetes website, didn't know if any of you might be interested: https://www.ontrackdiabetes.com/related-conditions/sleep/diabetes-restless-leg-syndrome This article assumes the iron connection and suggests that diabetes among other conditions affect how much iron gets

Pregnant, RA and headaches
Afternoon all. I am 16 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with RA approx. 4 weeks ago. I have been given Hydroxychloroquine and Sulfasalazine (4 Tablets a day) which I have been taking for approx. 3.5 weeks. I was feeling fine on them until last week and now I seem to get chronic headaches and neck pain

HbA1c Sweet Spot - Type I
A new piece of research has found the ideal HbA1c for Type I diabetes is from 6.5 - 6.9 to avoid complications. It appears that if a lower figure is achieved with frequent hypos retinopathy becomes more likely. Type IIs on medication that does not cause hypos can obviously go somewhat lower. Life has

So I've been for my long overdue annual visit to my hormone doctor in Belgium and I have to admit I received quite a lot of confusing and even contradictory advice that I would love for members to comment on: First of all, when it comes to my massive weight gain (+25 kg) since being treated with high

Researchers say No to Low Carb/Keto Diet!
An interesting read for most of us who practice Low Carb Diet.... The results from a pooled research on low carbohydrate diets were presented at the European Society of Cardiology's 2018 Congress in August by researchers based in the UK, Poland, Sweden, and Greece.... The article outlines the start of

Frustration at being wrongly diagnosed
Hi Everyone, i am just annoyed that i had poured my heart out to a senior Psychiatrist who later sent me a letter saying that there was nothing he can do with me and that i should have just contacted Health in Mind in the first place - basically i wasted his time. Yet during this assessment meeting he

Is Low Reverse T3 good?
Hi, I've just had Reverse T3 tested for the first time. Thought it would be useful to check as my TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 have been low since I started testing in April 2019. I started on 50mg Levothyroxine for a few months and recently changed to Erfa (30mg) and Levothyroxine (25mg) as per endocrinologist

Is obesity/diabetes a glucose problem or an Insulin problem?
When you eat carbohydrates (and especially refined carbohydrates or sugar) they increase your blood glucose. Usually, for decades, insulin controls your blood glucose - but hyperinsulinaemia is not good for you. It is only when the problem is beginning to get out of control, and your insulin cannot cope

Tried ending her life
So last night my mum tried to od by taking to much insulin I'm running out of ideas on how I can make her life better and feel let down by our social team who don't seem helpful and a doctor who just brushes it under the carpet

Insulin....let's play
Hey Fam 85.5 to 84.4 this month. As I continue to learn more everyday this past month I have learned a lot about hormones....namely insulin and cortisol. Reducing insulin resistance and stress management is going to be big for me this coming month.

How do I avoid hunger?
Sugar and (refined) carbohydrates make you hungry: Refined carbohydrates are converted into sugar very quickly. Sugar gets into your bloodstream as Blood Glucose. Blood Glucose spikes Insulin. Insulin takes glucose out of the bloodstream (and stores it as fat). Insulin prevents you from burning fat.

Newbies: What will break my fast?
The theory is that, to lose weight (or get into ketosis or autophagy), you switch from "fat storage" to "fat-burning" mode, and carbohydrate will "break your fast" and get you out of fat burning mode. The Glycaemic Index of a food is (compared to glucose) The speed at which a food stimulated insulin.
