Welcome to our friendly, active, rapidly-growing forum.
There is now quite a bit of information available on the internet - and I try to "guide you through the maze."
If you are not on an intra-venus drip - and been fed 24/7, you are Not Eating All Day aka Intermittent Fasting - it does not have to be extreme!
Please start a separate post to introduce yourself, or ask specific questions.
This one short video by Dr Jason Fung gives you many of the answers:
How to Fast, by Dr Sten Ekberg:
How not to fast (mistakes to avoid):
To lose weight we have to eat less and/or move more, but the basic "calories consumed minus calories burnt" does not (always) work - this is mainly because restricted-calorie diets (tend to) suppress the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). Eating fewer meals – or eating in a window of fewer hours a day (or fewer days a week) is what we call Intermittent Fasting (IF), which stimulates BMR. Please note that if you eat less or fewer meals you have to make sure that you get enough of all the essential nutrients. Most of us find that we do not have to count anything - and a varied balanced conventional diet is adequate.

How to Start Fasting
With enough incentive or motivation (e.g. diabetes or cancer) you can go straight into Fasting (Dr Jason Fung puts some of his diabetic patients on an initial medically-supervised 14-day fast) but most of us transition into Intermittent Fasting over a few weeks... as our bodies get into "fat-burning mode".
