Softly, softly, catchee monkey?
In my post of 14 days ago - "A victim of success?" - I report on a study which indicated that a rapid rate of cell death will cause the appearance of a protein that spurs cell growth. This is perfectly reasonable. The body can't afford to have cell death in a vital organ, say, outrun cell division.

Post transplant CMV Mismatch
Hi All My husband had a liver transplant on 28.11.17 and having looked at his medication and read his discharge note it says he has been prescribed Valganciclovir as he has a high risk CMV mismatch. Having googled it - sounds serious - has anyone else come across this and I am not sure of the implications

I just turned 22. I have PBC, hypothroide, & Hep C. My spleen is also enlarged cause of this. I know I'll need a liver transplant, but I'm way too scared to do anything just yet. I'd like to experience a little more in life & travel a bit. I've changed my eating habits & what I eat. I stay away from

Caution: Vit E and Asthma
The Daily Mail recently (Nov 2017) reported on some science extolling the benefits of Vitamin E where Asthma is concerned. The Article even floated the idea that Vit E might become a Treatment for Asthma. The Science / Data ‘Source’ (mentioned in the Daily Mail Article I’ve linked to below) stated that

Confused
Can somebody orient me. I was diagnosing with pbc three months ago and started on Urso with a great response. Then two weeks ago I visited my hepatoligist and she said I had overlap syndrome which I was proscribed prednisone and azathioprina. So yesterday I took my labs and they came back a little higher

A Snippet: Wind-eze Gel Caps (contain Simeticone - as activated Dimeticone): Can Reduce Absorption of Levothyroxine and other Thyroid Meds
Hi All. Doing some research for a forum member and discovered that Wind-eze Gel Caps (an anti-wind agent) contain Simeticone (activated Dimeticone), a drug that can reduce the absorption of levothyroxine (and other thyroid medications). http://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/PIL.26520.latest.pdf Interestingly

Side effects from my alcoholism and Hep B
I have had a liver biopsy early sept, after years of heavy drinking and recently been told I have Hep B .the results came back with no scarring but inflammation of the liver cells, does this mean I have no cirrhosis of the liver and its the Hep B that's causing the damage? I also feel physically drained

Ultrsound
Ultrasound showed, gall bladder, kidneys, pancreas, spleen and liver normal in size. No dilatation of the common bile duct. Liver has coarsening of the echo texture. Probable fatty infiltration of the liver.

Seeking info
I was tested one and all came back negative, then, three weeks later, I got very ill and was hospitalized and tested positive for hepatitis c. Along with liver failure. Then, two months later, I was retested and it is now negative. They said my liver is very fatty. What am I to think?
