Pbc patients are predisposed to osteoporosis, so strength training is good for it. In general, we all need cardio (3-5x a week) & strength training (2-3x a week).

Ease into it; don't go all out all at once. You don't want to hurt yourself.

If you suffer with varicies you should not be lifting or anything that is very strenuous. My heptologist placed me on a weight lifting limit of 25lbs. Too much can cause hypertension which in turn can cause the varicies to burst. This is the reason I had to resign from my much loved work at our local high school in the cafeteria.

I wish that you were closer to me. I would take you from bed to doctor just like my husband did to me. I went to bed in the clothes I wore to the dr.

I was not considering all these other complications regarding strength training. We can always do body weight strength training i.e. Push ups, squats, lunges etc.

Best to consult with your doctor as he/she can better assess, knowing your condition & they are experts.
