Open heart surgery
I had my first meeting with the surgical team at Papworth yesterday . Iām now pencilled in for an aortic valve replacement in June. We discussed my AF , the effects of surgery on episodes after and anticoagulants . Interestingly they stated that oral anticoagulants reduce the risk of stroke by 60/70%

radiation damage to the bladder
my husband has had 4 rather benign treatments of Pluvicto at the recommended 6 week intervals. Treatment #5 is Schilzās in about 10 days. All of a sudden he is having hematuria and bladder spasms. Can anyone tell me what kinds of treatments are used for radiation burns or irritation to the bladder? Thanks

Apixaban
I wonder if there is anyone here who is over 80, weighs less than 55kg and is on Apixaban? I was on warfarin but due to my INR being very unstable and also my forgetting to take it sometimes, my cardiologist switched me to Apixaban which I found a great improvement in that there were no more diet restrictions

pulsatile tinnitus
hi Iāve had pulsatile tinnitus for almost 2 years. It came on all of a sudden not long after Iād had covid and had been a bit unwell with migraine for a week or so. tinnitus on rapid head rotation
Does anyone else experience a sound/vibration when shaking their head quickly from side to side? What I hear is a vibration of frequency about E flat (about 610Hz)? I have recently had an attempt at micro suction to remove ear wax and this has only started since then and I am wondering whether there

Help!
I'm at the end of my tether. I'm 74 and have had UTIs since 16 - usually 1-2 a year, easily treated. A couple of years ago they were getting more frequent and GP gave me standby px for Macrobid and with this I've managed to self treat at the 1st symptom. 5 months ago I had a bad flare up which took several

3 years Runniversary
A reminder popped up in my calendar - today is 3 years since those first intrepid steps for C25K Since then I've run more than 1,000 km. Longest run was 10k (if you look at the medal I got from the organisers, but both Garmin and NRC have me slightly less as I was so carried away I forgot to press

Ranolazine (used for angina) could potentially be repurposed for PCa. Only mouse studies so far.
āTreatment of cancer patients with lipid metabolic inhibitors like ranolazine could potentially re-activate the immune cells to restore and enhance cellular-mediated antitumor immunity and tumor regression.ā Targeting Fat Oxidation in Mouse Prostate Cancer Decreases Tumor Growth and Stimulates Anti-Cancer

Running after Retinal tear surgery
Hi everyone, I've had two retinal tears to my right eye in the space of 10 weeks and have had subsequent laser surgery for both tears. With the first tear, I waited at least 5 weeks, before I went back to running and had experienced my second tear at work and not whilst running. Has anyone had a retinal

My son is 8 and has never been dry, day or night. I began toilet training him after his third birthday and I thought at first that I must have done it wrong as he could never keep dry. He would have the occasional poo accident too, but his real problem was wees. I took him to GPs and HVs and was either
