SECOND CATARACT SURGERY- LEFT EYE

Gmorning all! Had my second cataract done early yesterday morning. Typing this without glasses today. Yay! Op took 15 minutes. This time he injected the antibiotics and Pred instead of sending me home with 3 bottles of eye drops. The injection is into the bottom lid, not the actual eyeball which was one of my pre-op questions. My last eye had become irritated, so I went into the Clinic. Turned out to be an eyelash growing inward. He simply plucked it out. Right now I'm using OTC eye drops because my eyes are dry (on his advice, because I had thought not to use them in the newly operated eye). Brand is Soothe Preservstive Free for Allergy + Dry Eye by Bausch & Lomb. Love the push-down applicator. So pleased with the eyes outcome and extremely grateful.

it is great when it goes so well. I was nervous about my second eye after having had problems with my first but all went very well.

I think my first eye had problems due to me having macular oedema in it and injections in it and the cataract breaking up and fragments dropping behind my eye. All sorted quickly though in a follow up op.

I now have to wear reading glasses but my distant vision has really improved

Yes, as with many surgeries sometimes, things can go askew. I'm so glad it all sorted for you. I posted for the nervous folks, as I was one of them. 😉

I think we are all nervous about these things. I like to point out that although I had a problem with my first op it was sorted out a week later and if there is a problem they can be sorted.

So pleased to hear you've had a good outcome. It's the thought of the eyeball injections that give me the horrors when my time comes for cataract removal. Did you not have dry eye before the cataract op? I've had dry eye since a few months after GCA diagnosis (2020) and thought it must be the pred causing it, but maybe not. I use Eyezin XL by Aspire pharma, only on prescription but have tried many others before. Hope you continue to get good news. It's encouragement for us all.

They don't inject the eyeball, but along the edge of the eyelid. I thought the same until I asked the surgeon.

Yes. I've had dry eye for awhile now. Pain in the butt, but there are worse things.

I had my cataracts done last year but they clouded over and needed laser treatment. Now my sight is better than it's ever been. I wake up each morning and can see clearly without glasses. It's miraculous!
