Blood thinning jab that won’t cause internal bleeding

In the Health section of the Mail last November I read about a new injection Abelacimab which in a head to head trial caused 81% fewer major bleeding incidents.Warfarin is known to be a risk for bleeding in 16% of patients. I no longer attend a clinic, it was always Rheumatology, but I guess I was deemed no longer in need of a clinic appointment about 4 years ago.

I have been taking Warfarin for 16 years having 2 venous thrombosis, diagnosed by Dr.Kamashta in Professor Hughes Clinic, APS of course.

Perhaps some other patients have haemotology appointments and have heard of this new drug?

Here are a couple of links:

It is only at stage 2 trial so not yet ready to be used generally and even then I suspect it will have to be trialled like RAPS to see if it’s safe to replace warfarin or heparin injections but it’s really nice to know they are making progress on these types of products and there are hopes we will all have easier lives with APS in the future.
