23 years post-diagnosis
Hi, I am new here, and would like to introduce myself. My husband was diagnosed with PC in 1993, when he was 58. He just turned 81. The initial diagnosis was done when his PSA was 12, Gleason 7. He underwent radical prostatectomy. In 2001 his PSA started to go up and reached 4.4. Bone scan did not show

Low Dose Naltrexone
Just an update on my LDN journey. As far as Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) is concerned, it is an unlicensed drug which, as far as I can ascertain, means that it is not on the list of approved drugs for doctors to prescribe on the NHS, but that if they wish to prescribe it it is perfectly legal for them

I am 53, male and a diabetic since 10 years, from Hyderabad. Till one year back it was in reasonable control. In the recent past, my Fasting and PP levels are 150-190 and 240-265. The Hba1c is fluctuating between 8 and 10. I am on insulin (20 units in the morning and 15 in the night) + 3 500 mg metformin

Metformin and Chemotherapy - Synergy?
New Chinese review below. Seems that Metformin may have synergy with chemo for a good number of cancers. PCa is mentioned. "In this review, we summarized the molecular mechanisms underlying anticancer effects of metformin, which included insulin- and AMPK-dependent effects, selectively targeting cancer

Went to see my GP for a weight gain problem and he said I needed medication for my diabetes as my count had gone up from 5.1 to 5.3. He has prescribed 500 mg of metformin twice a day. Since starting the medication, I have had a lot of pain in my lower back, could the meds I am taking be the reason for

Can anyone help with these blood results and tell me which other supplements i may need. (These were taken on 1st april). Having more done tomorrow but folate and b12 won't be included. Desperately seeking a diet chart for my husband
Hi friends Happy Bengali new year to all. My husband 54, a teacher, while going for a routine blood sugar test was scared to find that fasting sugar level was 126 and two hours after meal it was 171. Further investigations revealed that there was fatty infiltration in liver and it was enlarged in size

Metformin help
I was diagnosed with Pcos after my first baby. I know that sounds bizarre and over a 17 year period I had 4 children. Although I've always had irregular periods, excess hair and been obese I've never been on metformin. However now in my mid 40's I'm morbidly obese and my dr has suggested I consider it

Targeting mTOR
mTOR is a protein with the rather whimsical name "mammalian target of rapamycin". Rapamycin (aka Sirolimus) is a bacteria discovered on Rapa Nui [Easter Island]. It inhibits mTOR. So the protein is named after the drug that inhibits it! mTOR is involved with cancer cell survival, proliferation & metastasis
