Metformin

Went to see my GP for a weight gain problem and he said I needed medication for my diabetes as my count had gone up from 5.1 to 5.3. He has prescribed 500 mg of metformin twice a day. Since starting the medication, I have had a lot of pain in my lower back, could the meds I am taking be the reason for the pain.

Hi ruthalem.....  I take 3000 mcg metformin each day 6x500 and have suffered no ill effects, how long have you been taking them. My advice would be ask your GP it may be a side effect but it may be coincidence.
