Hi. Although it’s only a week since diagnosis and starting treatment for AIH, I’ve Gounod this group very helpful and informant. I know it’s very early days on Steroids etc, and i feel physically better - itchy skin gone, jaundice going, etc etc. I have some pretty wierd symptoms that I can’t find any documented side effects responsible. The tips of the fingers on my left hand are incredibly sore and tingly. My right wrist and hand sometimes becomes unusable for a while (effect of liver biopsy??). I’ve had incredible anxiety with sudden onset of rapid irregular heartbeats -taken off to a/e with 160 bpm but couldn’t find anything wrong. Had another episode last night and it’s pretty scary although Hosp says it won’t last and will always return to normal eventually. Sorry for long post but wondering if anyone else is suffering similar things?

Hi , I think I already told you that I am co infected with HIV and Hep.B , so not the same as yourself . I too had pins and needles and numbness in my arms and hands when I first started treatment . I also occasionally have a short incident of my hand " locking " and not being able to use it . I do not know for sure what caused the pins and needles , but assumed it was the medication I was on . The hand " locking " I think is probably coincidental and not linked to my illness .

Anxiety as you know is a mental state . It can be crippling . At the start of my treatment I started to suffer anxiety for the first time in my life , but this was due to a side affect of one of the medications I was on . Check the contra indications and side effects of your medications . Anxiety being a state of mind it is possible to train oneself out of it . I know someone who did this by by developing a deep belief in " God " . She took on a " everything is pre ordained " approach to life and it cured her asthma ! ( there is an established link between asthma and anxiety ) but she took it as a sign that a God exists 😃
