Hi, I'm very worried about some results I've had this week, my lft were raised last yr inflamed liver to drink but returned to normal 7 week later no drink since, asked for scan referral fibrscan Dr would do not refer but did a lft tests again and elf test, lft still normal, elf score 10.1 they said that's normal and no scan required retest 3 yr, this is whats worrying me as they say reason no scam score not over 10.5 cirrhosis, that looks to me like they are going off cirrhosis score only, I looked at reference ranges from Bristol and Leeds and also asked liver help by email and all say 7.7 under is normal 7.7 to 9.8 moderate, over 9.8 sever fibrosis, mine is 10.1 to me the Dr is not looking at fibrosis only my score not been over 10.5 ,which worrying when my score is 10.1 classed as severe ,further reading shows I should be referred to hospital and need a scan to check how far it's gone and get any treatment to stop it going further, but they say it's normal yes it I for not been cirrhosis but still a high fibrosis score, so no hospital referral no scan needed they, and are leaving it 3 yr, my ana test was raised to moderate and they said if elf was raised with that would need a scan but are saying 10.1 not raised ana might be other reasons, so I. Worried they are not doing what they should to catch it because its not high enough for cirrhosis or over 10.5 elf score, what should I do as that is definitely very high. Thankyou

Hi Poe.The best thing you can do here is work towards reducing that score. You have given up drinking which is great well done that will definately help. Now look at your diet, reduce your intake of sugary and fatty foods dramatically and instead go for the healthy foods which are recommended to everyone... fruit veg, low fat meats and fish etc etc ... all the good wholesome stuff rather than processed meals. Drink plenty of water and get regular daily exercise. (If you don't already) That score over time will reduce, meaning your liver is healing. Going for scans at this stage isn't necessary as the only person who can fix it is you. That score is still low so it really will be easy to bring it back to normal if you feed yourself properly.

Best of luck.

I am NOT a doctor, but I think if you were truly sick your numbers and the rest would be much much worse.

I agree with Laura. For now, exercise, eat well and most importantly, no more drinking, not one drop. You will be amazed how good your results are in a year or three. If you insist on any test even though one is not recommended for you right now, perhaps you can get that arranged for a fee.

Feel free to ignore me, I am not a doctor and this is not medical advice, just internet chatting.
