Hi I’m 46 and was diagnosed with stomach cancer in August and have completed 4 rounds of FLOT chemo a few weeks ago and am waiting for scan/MDT meeting to get a date for my surgery, it will either be a full or partial gastrectomy. I was fit prior to diagnosis, 9 stone 10 only 5ft 2 but was quite lean

An understanding GP
I was first diagnosed with high THS two & a half years ago, I was prescribed 25 mg, after 12 months a blood test showed the THS had dropped, but I had anaemia, something I have never had. I had a gastroscopy and endoscopy, neither revealed a problem. As I had read that reducing THS (or a low one) could

Feeling contently compensated...
I survived my second meeting with my consultant and even better than that, left with such encouraging news. Thank you to all of you who helped me keep my head in the build up and for all the brilliant suggestions and tips - it helped immeasurably. I was still very nervous prior to going in and sitting

Gastrectomy and bile reflux
Hi My wife had a Gastrectomy in may and everything has gone better than expected. She suffers from Fibromyalgia as well and now is on new tablets for that. Since about 4 weeks after discontinuing some antidepressants ,which helped her sleep, she has not been sleeping at all or very little. Now her bile

Long awaited consultation
Well after a wait of over 20 weeks I finally saw a liver doctor. He was lovely, he didn't rush me and went through all my hospital admissions and tests. He is insisting on my blood being checked for autoimmune hepatitis as my gp requested it 3 times and the consultant in charge of the labs kept refusing

Bleeding in small bowel
I spoke to the specialist nurse who gave me the capsule endoscopy today. She said that I have a lot of adhesions and some bleeding in my small bowel. She was going to go through the images with my gastroenterologist today and discuss her findings. I assume this bleeding is the cause of my anaemia. I

Finally an improvement.
It is now over 8 years since I had a total Gastrectomy and finally I'm enjoying my food with no ill effects. Gone is the dumping syndrome, reflux etc. Now I'm concentrating on regaining lost weight. My early morning breakfast consists of a half can of baked beans washed down with a cup of coffee. I'm

Gastritis leading to anaemia
I have just had a gastroscopy and have gastritis and duodenitis, they now want to do a colonoscopy because I have low trasnsferrin (10) and haemaglobin levels of 110 which is a bit below the normal so I am anaemic. Has anyone else been down this path? I know I have gastritis because that is how I have

Signed off from haematologist today.
I went to see the haematologist I was originally referred to for anaemia back in February. It was she who recognised the spider naevie and felt my enlarged liver. She referred me for a liver scan and a gastroscopy and colonoscopy which confirmed the diagnosis of cirrhosis. She said that I should still

Is there a connection?
Hi, my first time here. I have a fairly long backstory to my issues, so if you don't mind, I'll bullet point for ease of reading. I'm a fat, fair, female of forty-nine. 2008 - Severe abdo pain with high Lfts. No Gallstones on U/S. Gastroscopy normal. Resolved spontaneously after 2 weeks. Incidental

Raised calprotectin 500 bloating and uncomfortable on right hand side abdomen
Hi all! I’ve been having symptoms for about two years now. It started with bad sickness feelings, food coming back up (not just acid) and tiredness. I’ve been taking Omeprazole and currently take Pantoprazole. Done various blood tests, helicobacter H. pylori breath test, abdominal and vaginal ultrasound

CT scan
I went for my CT scan this morning. I have previously had a gastroscopy and colonoscopy but apparently there's about 15 feet of small bowl that can't be seen during *oscopies. I hadn't realised that I would have to drink 2 jugs of bowel prep, I'm a big baby when I have to eat or drink anything that tastes

Once upon a time....
This post outlines how my diagnosis came about and why I’m feeling a little more positive. I’d been ‘unwell’ for a while, backwards and forwards to the GP with various symptoms that collectively were having a real impact on my life. First, I was told it was pernicious anaemia. That was some time

Autoimmune blood test
When I first started on this journey in February this year it was with my yearly diabetes check. It came back showing various abnormalities including anaemia. This then meant that I'd go to see a haematologist in june this year. A wait of around 12 weeks. They were thinking bowel cancer and put me on
