Confused!
Post cholecystectomy. Enlarged gall bladder but no obvious stone. Liver function tests raised. Post op liver function tests all return to normal but positive AMA M2. No other signs or symptoms. Just wondering if M2 could have been positive because of op conditions and now LFTs are normal and any

Surgical menopause
Hi all, I know I've been posting on here a lot just lately but recovering at home alone, its just good to talk to other ladies. So I'm now getting used to being in surgical menopause, the hot flushes are nowhere near as bad as they were on prostap but I'm getting myself all stressed and worried about

Bi lateral salpingo oopherectomy
Hi has anyone has a BSO in their mid fifties onwards? I have just been found to have a large ovarian cyst and it has to be removed along with my fallopian tubes and ovaries and wondered what this means post menopause in respect of hormones?

Hi I'm a newbie here
I'm Kim 56 yrs old and during a routine lumbar MRI a few weeks back a large 11.5cm cyst was found in my pelvic area. I saw a wonderful gynae specialist last night in a fast track clinic and she has said it has to come out along with my fallopian tubes and ovaries so I am due to have a bi lateral salpingo

Hi ladies going to have a bit of a rant I'm afraid. I was admitted to Stepping Hill on Wednesday for bilateral oophorectomy removal of tubes and cervix with probable bowel resection. I had to endure bowel prep and starve myself all day Wednesday, I had a bed booked on high dependency and so had psyched

Link between elevated liver enzymes and gall bladder removal?
I stuck my head in the sand for a year just hoping this PBC thing would go away. It didn't. I've finally scheduled a liver biopsy for the middle of March. During the visit to the specialist to get the ball rolling he said something curious about the results of the abdominal scan conducted last year and

Sofakitty saying hello.
Hello, I've just joined this forum and hoping it will give me the support I need to lose the extra weight I'm carrying. I managed to lose 10kg about five years ago before a gall-bladder operation. It was pretty easy to lose all that weight at the time as I went on a very low-fat diet, as any fat or oil

Gallstones

Promising response to fenofibrate
Some of you may remember a couple of months ago I was asking if anyone had tried fenofibrate to treat PBC. Only a small number of people here had been prescribed it. After a sudden increase in all of my liver enzymes last year and exclusion of AIH by biopsy my specialist felt my response to Urso was

What difference a week makes :-(
I posted last week about being in a NASTY flare (the worst since diagnosis 1.5 years ago!) and went to Rheumy and he gave me a steroid shot and steroid pills for 2 weeks. Well after a couple of days the shot and pills kicked in and WOW! I felt great! Then a week later, all h&$*& has broken loose in

Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis
I've just had a laparoscopy carried out last week, which I'm recovering well from but had a mirena coil fitted to help with the heavy painful periods. They have said that I need to give it at least three to six months to settle down, but have been getting really bad period pains which normally sub-side

Symptoms common after gastric bypass
POSTER'S COMMENTS: "Pain and other symptoms of discomfort are hard to bear and potentially worrying. I am posting these research findings as it is reassuring to learn that a relatively benign procedure carried out in patients without a critical morbidity (IE Cancer) still leads to long term side effects

Surgical menopause without HRT
I have just heard that my tumours are weakly positive for oestrogen receptivity which means I can't have HRT. I had my operation in October and my menopause systems are awful (hot flushes, terrible mood swings and weepiness, night sweats etc). They are so debilitating that I have not been able to return

Porcelain gallbladder
Hi all haven't posted for awhile have been poorly again just been diagnosed with porcelain gallbladder and waiting for Mri scan and then will be given a date for surgery, I believe that there is a connection between under active thyroid and gallstones and having my parathyroids removed and prescribed
