Hello, I've just joined this forum and hoping it will give me the support I need to lose the extra weight I'm carrying. I managed to lose 10kg about five years ago before a gall-bladder operation. It was pretty easy to lose all that weight at the time as I went on a very low-fat diet, as any fat or oil in my diet kicked off the most awful gall bladder pain, and pain is a great motivator! But it's all piled back on again, and I feel horrible about it. I think the low-fat diet helped at the time, but it clearly isn't sustainable or ideal for me. Hoping I can change my eating habits (not to mention the wine habit!) and get the weight off and keep it off. Just ordered a Bollywood dance DVD to try to have some fun with it, too. Fingers crossed. Hope everyone has a lovely Friday.

Sofakitty saying hello.
Hi Sofakitty,
Welcome to the forum. If you look on our Pinned Posts section, there's a link to the 'Welcome Newbie' post that Moreless (a lovely member of our forum) has put together. Definitely worth a read through.
I would recommend the NHS 12 week plan as a good structure to help you to approach your weight loss goals, and here is a link to the downloadable pages:

There is a Monday group weigh-in session (Morning and Afternoon/Evening sessions depending on preference for time to weigh-in), and you can see a link to the most recent session in the 'Events' section - situated in the top right-hand-side of the homepage.
Hope you'll enjoy being part of the forum, and hope to see you around and about.

Hi Sofakitty, I'm with you on the need for a healthy way of eating that is also sustainable. I've had to cut out wheat and dairy for health reasons which does in a way help me avoid a lot of the foods that make me put on weight, and in fact has been a big contributor to my weight loss, but I do end up really craving the things I can't have. I'm still working on having a healthy diet that doesn't harm my body but that also leaves me without cravings, energy dips, etc. So you're in good company! Also re wine! Good luck with the Bollywood DVD
