Radiation treatment for Hyperthyroid
I have been taking carbimazole for 4 years now for hyperthyroid, my latest blood tests are normal. Last year I had left ventricular problem with low ejection fraction but this is now low normal. I take ramipril and the thoughts are that it was a virus that affected my heart muscle. The thyroid doctors

Amlodipine Side Effects
I’ve been taking 10mg Amlodipine for almost 2 years now and still suffering from swollen ankles and feet. Sometimes, especially when I’m wearing socks that stop at ankle height or clothes that might rub against my ankles, it causes very sore, red rash that can spread up my leg. I’ve seen swollen ankles

Total confusion with BP meds
Hi, had blood pressure meds for some years, had settled on Candesartan 4mg and Felodipine 5mg for many years, then after some extreme personal situations and equally extreme health issues my BP started getting high. Doc put me up to 10 mg Felodipine and then increased the Candesartan to 16 mg. This helped

6 weeks post ablation
Hi All Just after a bit of advice. I am now 6 weeks post ablation- first four weeks I was doing really well. Last 2 weeks heart rate has jumped to between 115 and 120 bpm and that is for most of the day. It occasionally goes down to 80ish bpm. Also have a cold which isn't helping. My arrhythmia nurse

Ramipril : side effects
Hi all Can anyone tell me if they are experiencing side effects from taking 1.25 mg Ramipril. I have mild cardiomyopathy and have been taking this drug for a month with a horrible dry, sore, numb mouth which keeps me awake and now developing an irritating cough. I am seeing my GP on Monday to discuss

Ramipril
I went into AF July 17 and had a cardioversion Jan 18, after which I stopped all meds but Apixaban. After recent breathlessness I've been prescribed Bisoprolol 5mg then saw a cardiologist who wasn't exactly a communicator. He's scheduled me for another cardioversion but meanwhile has prescribed Ramipril

Adrenalin surge
Hello, I have come to the conclusion that my rather sudden problems with raised blood problems are a side effect of a rush of adrenolin. I stopped citalopram due to ectopic heart beats but now I get sudden hot flushes, night sweats and my blood pressure shoots up. It's a bit like a panic attack for

Ramipril and hand swelling
A query for my friend who started Ramipril 4 weeks ago and is experiencing gradual swelling of her fingers and hands ( water retention?). Her GP suspected Arthritis and carried out blood tests but no raised inflammation levels. My friend suspects the swelling is a side effect of Ramipril and I wondered

Atorvastatin and Amlodipine
Hi folks .. I have been taking Amlodipine 10mg for years without any problems. Recently I was referred to a consultant cardiologist for possible Angina. I also have raised cholesterol (6.6) so he prescribed Atorvastatin 40mg.. In the leaflet it says not to take this statin with Amlodpine as it interacts

Anti-malaria tablets and heart meds
Does anyone have experience of taking Malarone (Atovaquone/Proguanil) together with the usual suite of post HA meds (Ticagrelor, Bisoprolol, Ramipril, Omeprazole, Atorvastatin)? I am headed for a malaria-risk region in a couple of weeks' time and would like to be sure there isn't any conflict.

How long does amlodipine take to work ?
My gp has started me on 5mg of amlodipine for suspected angina. I’ve not had any actual investigations for this yet although my symptoms are highly suggestive of it. He didn’t tell me an awful lot about it but reading on the nhs website it says it can take some time for it to kick in and in fact symptoms

Any advice would be welcome resting heart rate 38bpm
I had what my cardiologist called a type II heart attack May last year. My heart was starved of oxygen and as a result my troponin level was over 500. Despite this after various tests my heart showed that I suffered no damage, I have low cholesterol (under 3) and my arteries showed no signs of blockages

Is joint pain a side effect of Amlodipine?
My doctor prescribed Amlopidine 5mgs three weeks ago to lower my blood pressure. Initial side effects of nausea and dizziness are greatly improved but I am now experiencing joint pains in my fingers, wrists etc. Could this be related to this drug?
