Cough

Hi I am fairly new to this heart attack lark. Can anyone help with my query please. I am taking Astorvastatin 80mg , Ramipril 2.6mg, Bisoprol Fumarate 2.5mg, Clopidogrel 75mg, Dispersible Asprin 75mg. One of these is causing me to have a racking cough, does anyone know which one it might be. Getting great advice from this forum. Many thanks.

Most likely it's the Ramipril, its well known for causing coughs. Sometimes it does settle down but not always, speak to your cardiologist/GP as there are alternatives

Agree with Lezzers, the cough drove me insane and it was the Ramipril (on the standard set of post heart attack drugs same as you) causing it. I stuck it out for a few weeks (too stupid to realise there were alternatives) and my GP reduced the dose. Fine after that and I am now 18 months on from HA. Go and chat to your GP.

Hi thanks for reply I went to my GP yesterday and he changed the Ramipril for Losartan so we will see how it goes.

That's good news as that is noted for causing a cough as well.

Yup. Ramipril causes a particularly irritating cough for many people. There are alternatives. You may well find you get cold feet from the Bisoprolol, which is equally common (bed socks are essential😀).

It is wrecking my body, frightened I will have another heart attack if it carries on, GP changed my tabs today for Losartan we will see how it goes, Thanks for reply

Ramipril. Had to change to Losartan.
